Nofar

The Nofar rally was no far so it didn't take me a long time to get there.

There were 26 bikes and riders there so it was well attended.
I pitched my tent in the crowded tent space area. I joined the nightly snore chorus and slept well.

Did I mention there were a few blackflies...at least thats what they told me.

Backroader made some nifty rally pins. You didn't dare lose yours or you got a pink replacement one.

We also got name tags...even Boo the vicious camp dog.

Dan (Isplat2) and Greta served up some mighty fine grub.

The planked salmon appetizer was great.

Everyone was hungry before supper, but not after.

I wonder what kind of bike Isplat2 rides.

On Saturday morning six of us rode to Wawa to rendezvous with the Thunder Bay group at Tim's.

On the way back to the rally we drove close to my house so we dropped in for a quick cold refreshment. The first time I had nine bikes in my driveway.

Except for one mishap a good time was had by all. Heal fast Feliz. Nice roads, good weather, great company. Thanks Dan and Greta for putting this on. I'll drop in soon to give you those sauna lessons I promised.

The crowd is thinning. The only problem we had today was the empty bin got full.

I'm home...oddest ride ever. I left to go get a toothbrush, waited around for Steve and Mike on the main highway, but either missed them, or didn't wait long enough.

Anyway, I cooked all the way to White River, probably 30c, got about 5k out of Marathon, and the temperature dropped like a rock. Like heated vest cold, almost instantly.

Then it started an ice cold, heavy rain. I was so hypothermic by the time I got home, that the wife had to undress me, throw me in the shower and make me a toddy to warm up. She said my face was actually blue. I think it's the coldest I've ve been in my life.

Also odd, there was no traffic, except for about a million police cars.

Hopefully, Steve and Mike holed up in Wawa tonight. Supposed to be 20c and sunny tomorrow.

Hey Ron and Everyone!

Ron - what happened to you!? I thought you stopped at the Canadian Carver too? That is where I met up with Leigh (sp?) and Steve. We assumed that you went on ahead of us. Both Steve, Leigh and I made it to Nipigon. Leigh decided to get a motel for the night in Nipigon (Beaver motel). Steve and continued to freeze our a$$es off on the last 100kms to Thunder Bay. We got in at around 9:30PM. Ron's description of the weather was spot on. It was sweltering hot for us up to about Wawa. Doug (Goldwing rider from Wawa) was wearing a t-shirt and was probably sweating! Then suddenly it turned cold, dark, windy, and rainy. Was also one of the coldest rides I've completed. When I got home - I took a 30 minute hot shower - but still had the chills - so I plugged in a portable heater. I have it facing me right now. Must have been mildly hypothermic. Starting to feel more normal now. Despite the cold, wind, and rain - it was great riding together with you guys - and it was great meeting everyone at the gathering!

Mike
