Actually the octane boost only travels with the BMW and the Harley.

No action on the 400, it's off the market for the winter.

How does the 650 compare to a Klr 650, power wise?

Not sure if you are talking hte 650 single or the twin. We have both the F800 and F650 (twin). Only real difference is the wheels cast vrs spoke, tire size where the 800 has a 21 the 650 a 19 front

There is some small suspension differences and size of sprockets but they both have the same engine. The 650 is "detuned" so has approx 15 less hp but can run on regular fuel.

Riding them I really see no difference in power. as these bikes develop their top HP up on the rpm scale. The 650 is a far better handler around town and on the highway. It is also lower seat height.

I met a couple guys touring on the 650s and i would not hesitate to buy one. In fact if i had to do it again it would be a very tough choice. The 800 is supposed to be more "dirt" oriented but for just burning up gravel roads and open road touring the 650 will easily hold it's own.

As for the 650 vrs the KLR there is no comparison. The 650 has close to double the hp, but remember it is actually an 800. That being said the 650 BMW is nearly twice the price.

Thanks dryden rider! Didn't realize the 650 was a twin...haven't looked into the Bmw's much, mostly due to the prices. Trying to figure out where I want to go with this adventure riding thing. Seem's I need at least 3 bikes of different styles to do all the different types of riding that I'm interested in First I guess I have to get back to work...well maybe wait til 2013 now

Yes BMW makes things as confusing as shit. There is a 650 single (that is actually a 650) ZZ_Ron has one. Used to be called the Funduro then the F650 and I think it is now the G650

This year they put out the 650 Serato single and all reviews lead to it being a nice ride. Again dollar for dollar I think the KLR or even a Suzuki DR 650 is a better bang for your buck although maybe not a better bike.

This is off the last steep, rocky section up to Mosquito Pass near Leadville, Colorado. 13,185' up, it is the highest vehicle pass in Colorado.
