So I finally got out for an epic sled ride yesterday. Weather was great, it was snowing and temp was around minus 8c. There was 5 of us and we rode from Lappe up the pipeline, crossing roads and more pipeline to the Current River. From there we went up the River to the old Onion Lake Dam, which isn't there anymore and then up to Barnum lake road, across to Sunday lake and back to Dog lake road. The 50 mile ride was full of crazy adventure, breaking trail and weaving around open area's on the river. One sled broke thru the ice but we managed get it out before it sank. Along the way I managed to hit a jump crooked and landed on my side. The whole trip was about 3 hours long, so I chopped it up and made a 20 minute video of the ride, hope it's not too long for ya! Enjoy! Sled breaking thru the ice is at 8:40 and crash is at 15:45.

Hey Lappeman - I was just traveling along the Current River a couple of days ago too. On snowshoes though. We walked right up on top of where the rapids normally run - had to dodge open water patches in places too. Thanks for the video. Somehow I think I missed the crash?

Where were you showshoeing? We saw some snowshoe tracks in the snow just before the bridge on the end of Onion lake road. Crash was at minute 15 and 40 seconds or so of the video. Hard to miss, as I'm spinning along the snow on my back laughing!

Is it possible to get from the end of Barnum Lake road back to Dog Lake rd on a bike or is it only possible bushwacking on the sleds?

Ahh. The first time through, the video only played the first 9 minutes or so. That explains it. We were snowshoeing much further down about a 20 minute walk up from the Cascades Conservation Area. We made it all the way up to the top of the cascades though - where the river flattens out.

Not from the end of Barnum but you can cut across aways up and head north to Monday lake road which leads to Dog Lake. KEL115 has been trying to find a way to get across from the end of Barnum but so far no luck.

Ya, we are much further north, although we've been thinking about heading south on the river and see how far we get

While I am completely capable of driving myself to the hospital, when I get there, the only way in from any parking lot is up two flights of treacherous, outdoor stairs?


Who was the IDIOT that designed that? Then there's the 300 ft long, 3 story high windows in the cafeteria that leak like a sieve, and face nothing. Nice fucking work people!

Ron, are you talking about our Hospital or the one in Hamilton? Ours, if you enter off the Golf Links side, it's an even level entrance and you can take the elevator to the floors. Two parking lots over there also.
