Yeah that looks all warm and comfortable Greg, but we've got 10-15 cm of snow coming overnight and tomorrow so there!

Mmmmm....fresh cookies.

I was into Ruby Lake PP last summer. About 12-15 km east of Nipigon there's a road on the south side of Hwy 17. It goes into a old quarry. If you stay right at the quarry an old logging road starts climbing up a large hill. It's doable in a 4X4 or dirt bike. The road goes in and up a few km's. When it starts to go down look for a trail on the right. It leads to a very high cliff above Ruby Lake. You can see Superior as well. Great views

Makes a nice day hike. I'll try to find some pictures.

Some shots of Ruby Lake PP

The trail off the road. You can ride / drive to the start of the trail and it might be 1/2 km to the cliffs.

This is what they were taking out of the quarry

Looks a lot like Ouimet Canyon

The view to the northwest

Looking southwest

Looking towards Nipigon Bay

Those photos are great , I wonder if there is access to the water. Might be a good camping spot. May check it out on the way to the Ice Breaker.

Nice photos canuckAME! Can you ride a bike to the top of the cliffs or would you have to hike a bit? I see the quarry on Google earth...have to check it out this summer. Thanks!

Ruby Lake

Sounds like it may be a handful on a fully loaded 1200GS.

Still have the 400, but it's soon to be sold... And no I will not ride it to the Ice Breaker... Maybe as far as Steinbach, but that's it.

I hears ya. I might take the DR, but it'll travel in the truck if I do.
Cheers Lyle
