Doesn't look like a park in the way of a campground. Probably just designated park land due to the cliffs and landforms in the area, good for hiking, backpacking kind of thing.

Just watched the white rim ride vid. I bet it doesn't Do justice to the scenery or the heights! I was clenching just sitting here. Those were some long drops just a couple of feet from your front tire! Some of those loose rocks could make me soil my shorts.

Glad you enjoyed it! No, it doesn't do justice to the drops and scenery...it's something that you have to be there to experience it fully! One of the roughest trails leads to the biggest drop and the most dramatic view...and I didn't get a good video of it. That one is called Top of the World!

Check out my youtube channel and you can see me ride the edge of a 1000' cliff...if that doesn't scare you, nothing will!

Seeing as you guys seem to be so skilled at "Highpoint Trail-Ride" Jeopardy - let's try this one. A little ways down Hwy 61, Blake Hall Rd turns into Tower Rd, and then climbs to the top of the Norwester range. Anybody know anything about this spot? Did a forest tower used to exist here? Radio/communications tower? Alien landing base? (That's a pretty large swath).

Hey Mike, that's Mount Hurlburt, haven't checked that one out...l'm betting on Alien Landing base

Seriously, I believe that's the Thunder Bay observatory/telescope and the road is gated at the end of tower road. Given that it's the highest point of land around there, it very well might have housed a Fire Tower at one time...not now though.

Thanks! Yeah - you can see a faint line (shadow) across the road just as it suddenly heads north. I thought that might be a gate. Would love to take some photos from up there though.
