rider from China coming

I am in contact with a fellow adv rider from China wanting to go from Caledon to Tbay via gravel is that possible? I have offered to put him up at my place in Nbay. His handle is "yamonda1"if anyone has any suggestions. He found me on the tent space thread.

Caledon, as in southern Ontario? I can't see how.....on gravel? He could keep it rustic by heading north to Tobermory, then take the ferry to Manitoulin Island, then along the north channel to SSM.....then touch base with Finndian for suggestions from there.

The Sultan industrial road, Ranger lake area and graveltravel.ca might be a good start.

Most of Highway 17 between the Soo and TBay will probably be gravel this summer anyway. You would think that after all these years they could get it right, just once.

Two years ago the snow hung around in the bush well into April...this year might be much the same On the plus side...it's the most I've been on the sled in three years! Much rather be on the bike though!

Rob - great video. I like the different camera angles. If this weather keeps up you might have lots more sledding in store....

Thanks Mike! I'm planning on going back out one night before the end of the week and for sure once on the weekend. Have to think up something different to do video with

First it will be a layer of gravel under 2" of salt Then comes the construction phase...then the washout phase...then the gravel repairs and finally a layer of asphalt over some moisture which freezes in the winter and we're back to square one next spring...so you've hit it bang on Ron!

All gravel roads from Wawa west to Thunder Bay run north to south or south to north, so tarmac it is

Why would anyone from China want to see Thunder Bay anyway

Klay, beer prices are based on two things in Canada,

#1. Alcohol by volume .... 5 % on Canada, 3.2 in the US.

# 2. Taxes to cover Medicare and Social Assistance Programs.

Well, only the 3.2 is 3.2. Most of it is 5% or better here. Must be #2. And even then, I think you're getting more for your health-care money than we're getting here.

So the big question, are you going to show yourself in Thunder Bay in late September to drink the beer with us ?????? Book now as North Rider's beer is the best in the country!

I've marked it off on the calendar. Last year's impediments (sale of business, wife's health) are off the radar screen. I think I can track down Dog Lake.
