Nice photo Gord! Where was that taken? And what are your thoughts about the bike?

GPSKevin on the TCAT...

Well it was nice to meet Kevin! He stayed in our camper last night and I joined him for about 163kms on his solo journey across Canada on the Trans Canada Trail TCAT. It was a great morning for a ride and we even saw two black bears along the way. My back was bothering me by Graham, so I showed Kevin the plane wreckage and returned home. It was looking pretty stormy west, hope he joined up with Dryden Rider 54 at the Silver Dollar alright. I got a tad wet in a 3 minute downpour about 5 minutes from home but otherwise it was a great day. Needed to wash the bugs and mud off the bike and myself anyway

Ready to continue his trip this morning

Grown in section of the TCAT

Checking out the old rail bridge

At the Flett Tunnel - pretty neat with fog!

Getting in deep

At the plane wreckage

It was great to finally get out and ride, Thanks Kevin and good luck with the rest of your trip!!

There was an impassable washout a couple k after you left him. We waited at Silver Dollar for an hour or so but he did not show. Found later that he did a bunch of back tracking and showed up about 10 minutes after we left SD. He followed in our tracks to Dryden and is now here at our house.

I was down in Espanola and Kevin from Trail Side Sports offered up a tour of Manitoulin Island. He kindly provided some of his Harley's to ride.

They definately aren't my cup of tea and provide very little adrenaline rush or inspiration but they do provide the basics of riding and it's always great to get out and about with a good friend. The other bike was a little smaller superglide? and was very easy to ride.

Gord, a parrot on your shoulder and a patch over one eye, and you'd look right at home on that thing. Kidding aside, I rented on in AZ, and loved it.

Got GPSKevin back on the road this morning for his exploration of the Trans Canada Trail (it needs work). The weather was picture perfect so ran 3 1/2 hours of backroads from Dryden just over half way to Kenora.

Not much wild life out (4 deer and 1 bear) but with the recent rain there was no dust and great riding. He is heading for 'toba so if you see a dude on a Tenere and California plates say hi. I think he is going to try to touch base with Mel and Chris in Winnipeg as he met them in NFLD.

Passing Through Thunder Bay and Sault Ste Marie

Hello Northern riders.

I will be riding around lake superior on the 4th of July weekend and I was wondering if anyone in Thunder Bay and / or Sault Ste Marie (canadaian Side) know of an economical place were we could stay?

There are two of us that plan to be in Thunder bay on the 4th of July and then Sault Ste Marie on the 5th. We are not camping so campsites, underpasses or burial grounds are off limits. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

There's a few cheaper hotels along Cumberland St, if you take the off ramp at Hodder Ave, first intersection when arriving from the east, it will turn into Cumberland st and the hotels are a few miles down along the waterfront. If your looking for a little better, there's the Thunder Bay hotel west on hwy 102.

No good deals in soo Canada. I stay on the U.S. side when in the Soo. Holiday Inn express is right by the bridge. New and clean.
