PS: Will be over this afternoon sometime, with a bunch of wings and beer.
Can't wait. Lots of tequila. Lots of vodka. Lots of ice. Will make some crushed ice "poor man's margueritas".

If there are any forum members around Thunder Bay today - feel free to stop by my place out on Court St. hill - we will be celebrating Canada Day from 12 noon to 12 midnight out on the deck.

Feliz - if you don't have any plans today (unlikely) - stop by my deck for some Petron at 12 noon. You're only a 5 minute walk away!

Happy Canada Day!

Mike, a little more notice and I would be there.

Hey Mike! Sounds like you had a great trip! You got me stumped on the Fire Tower location. Right now I'm bikeless to a degree. Sold the Ktm 530. KLR is all back together so now I have to get a safety check, insured and registered...hopefully this week but other things have come up that might see a delay on getting the bike ready and cancelation of my trip.

What?!? You don't know this tower?!? It is the Cascaden tower. Otherwise known as the Windy Lake tower. I grew up in Onaping, ON. A short 2 km bicycle ride from the park. Spent many summers on the beach there. And I've climbed that tower many times. The hill itself is somewhat of a monadnock in the area - it really stands out above the surrounding hills. The hill is 1645 ft above sea level and sits 547 ft above Windy Lake. At one time the region was considering building a ski resort on the hill. The last time I climbed it was around 1993. It was in perfect condition. The cupola was in great shape. However, more recently I read online that a fellow climbed it a few years ago and that it was now in poor shape (someone tried to burn down the cupola). Sad really. My friend's dad used to climb the tower and visit the towerman there when he was a teen.
