Ride report coming to put the 2 together. Will advise but short story is, infrickingcredible. Like the Welcome to Utah sign says, truly it is life elevated

That is Mesa Verde. I believe it was initially a national monument but is now a national park. I think they said there were 16 of the cliff dwelling villages in the area but this one was the largest. They only lasted there for 80-100 years then abandoned them.

It is cool and even more amazing when you see where they were located. They were deep in a canyon that was near the top end of a huge Butte in the middle of the rolling Colorado foot hills. I think we switchback climbed over 4000 ft to get to the top of the butte.

We only spent part of a day touring there as it was the eve of the US gov shutdown and we wanted to try to make Arches the next day if we could.

I could go back and spend a few extra days at each site we visited. There is so much to see and so much history in that neck of the woods.

Looking at this ride for a man trip next year http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=647968

Great photos Garth! The colours are incredible down there! The cliff dwellings look like Lego buildings until you put people in the photos! Now where's my loto ticket

About 200 k from moab to mesa Verde.

We met a couple guys in Blanding UT about an hour south. They said they used to ride Moab but have since moved south because it was more accessible and less rules.

That whole country down there looks like you could just head off the road and ride forever.

A day ride around Manitoulin. My buddy Pete and I were out scouting check points for next year's vintage bike weekend on the island. At least that was our excuse. Beautiful day for this late in the season.

At the hortons in Espanola

East Bluff lookout Gore Bay- left-ish

East Bluff lookout Gore Bay- right-ish

South side of Lake Mindemoya where the washrooms are still open, YES!
(new contractor for highway maintenance etc in the area this year and a big improvement---the old one had the cans shut up tight right after Labour Day)

Happy Birthday to North Rider and Dryden Rider. Its my turn next Saturday. 55 for what its worth...gee only 25 more years and I can afford to retire.

Relic

PS- I got a little mixed up last evening and posted this to the northern rally thread...blame old age as I no longer can drink Soon as I'm done here I'll go back and delete it from there- sorry about that!
