From what I have read about the 390s the plan is to release a new version based on the Duke every 6 months. With the release of the RC hopefully the Adventure is next. That would put it in our hands in late spring to early summer. On the other hand that 390 enduro is available now and is street legal with a bit more dirt heritage to it. Some soft bags and off you go on an adventure.

Oops I got it wrong. It is the KTM 350 Exc that is available. But at 45 horse power I would call it just as strong as the 390. Too bad those KTMs are so expensive. Would love to have one.

Was looking at the Ktm 350exc today with the 500exc in mind...will all depend how the work factor pans out this winter. Don't want another winter sitting around broke

What is your opinion on those bikes. The only KTM dealer is two hours away. Kind of far to go to just drool over something I cannot really afford.

Well ok in summer I could justify it as a ride.

I rode my 530exc in the mountains, deserts and in between and it was an exceptional bike! The 500 is fuel injected and totally revamped, supposed to be much better! I was told that for riders around 150lbs or so, the 350 would be a better bike but for a heavier rider like myself the 500 is the way too go. My 530 had tons of power, even at 13000' and was lightweight, only about 245lbs dry. Really liked it and would definitely buy another Ktm! They are fairly expensive (10,500 + tax) and if you plan to ride any distance, they are not meant for that. Short tough challenging rides are what they do best!

My opinion only

Hovering around freezing here today, nice and sunny. I'll take it. Getting a ride in before a night run in a rig.

Bare dry pavement & above zero temps. I'll go ride.
I have ridden on ice and snow, and used to ride mx race bikes on the snowmobile trails in -25 in January. Not much anymore.
I won't go out when the roads get slushy & icy. A bad crash is something that I don't want to encourage taking unnecessary chances.
Late season riding has its own moments though. The looks you get, often big smiles, other times its stunned amazement. The mid day sun is so low on the horizon, heading north you can see the sun in the rear view mirrors..
A ride on the highway will let you know what part of your gear is not up to snuff. 18 weeks and it'll be springtime .
