Hekto, I see pics from the coast... did you ride thru Antofagasta Chile? I was lucky enough to spend a few weeks there work related (like 15 years ago) and we drove up thru the high desert country there. Nice pics! I thought Chile was neat to visit.

Yes the Mano de Desierto is just south of Antofagasta . I was pleasantly surprised by the Chilean desert & coastline ( Peru & Ecuador are the favorites though )
There's some huge wind farm projects on the coast. Really enjoying the dry +30C temps !

Not my idea of fine cuisine, but glad groundhogs are good eating.
Cheers!

We were talking about trips yesterday and got to thinking about our trip to Windigo. Could not remember the date we went so looked through a few old photos and surprise surprise look what I found. Picture of the black board in the school at Stirland. ZZRon and Bill in 2008, Lappeman in May of 2010 and me and our posse on July 11 2010.

I think I saw a newer picture and it has been wiped clean by someone so the names are no longer on there.

I saw that pic as well. Can't remember where though, but the board was wiped clean, which is too bad, there was a lot of history on there.

Seeing as you bought it up Garth, I'm just posting a few pics that were either lost, or never in the original ride report.

I have this pic from 2012, but look at the chalkboard frame, it was in a different room...or they've been upgrading the place?

Looks like Mr. and Mrs. Backroader got out of Winterpaeg just in time.

Blowing snow closed lots of highways and woke up to -30.

Damb it Greg mail me some warm weather as soon as you get South.

Was once told by a friend from Alabama there are only two directions "South and Deep South" I do believe I finally realize what he really meant.

Hecto has it figured out. Riding in warm sun and sandy beach.

While I trudge through knee deep snow (which I had just cleared the night before) to the ice cube tray I hop into each morning and do the curling rock slide into work.

I must have really frose my brain bad as a child to still live in this freezer chest they call Manitoba.

My Dad got offered a job to run that school, as I recall, sometime in the mid-60's. I was just a kid and didn't pay much attention to the whole thing. But we'd just moved down south (to the Soo) from McKenzie Island, and he didn't want to go back north, so he declined. Even though he'd spent most of his adult life as a teacher in N.Ont., he was really a southerner at heart and not fond of the cold.

Ha ha saw this on the book of faces today so thought I would share. I would love to get an old school Suzi or Yamaha 250 dirt bike.
