I agree Garth, the sound of a stroke is exhilarating, right around 8500 rpm.

1976 DT400 Sorry, not a 250 but a blast none the less. I put quite a few miles on this bike a few years back, commuting and back road exploring. It loves to accelerate, tolerates decel but absolutely not happy to maintain a steady speed. Makes for interesting riding in town.
I converted this bike to 12 volts and now the lights and signals actually work
No problem doing 60 mph but after a few miles at highway speed I'd have no feeling in my hands, my arms would be aching and I'd be numb from the waste down. (course I've been accused of being numb from the neck up but that's another story...)

Relic
PS- this is the bike I brought to the 2012 NOFAR. Had the desert tank on it then.

Guzzirelic...

None of those things were happy at a slow steady speed...
But, wow... at the high end of the tach, they were FUN!
Thanks for the reminder!

I had 1973 Yamaha DT250 that I finally sold about thirteen years ago when I bought the KLR. Today I got a call from someone who recently acquired the bike and fixed it all up. He asked if I still had the registration paper because he wants to plate it and I am still on record as the owner. I told him I would apply for a replacement if paid the cost of about $10. Maybe I'll get a ride on it again.

Nofate...

That's awesome Rick!
Doubt I'll ever see the original Hondas, Yamis, Triumphs or BSAs I had as a youth, never mind the two-strokes.

Cheers!

Yes that is what I am looking for a DT or a Suz TS 250. Had one (TS250) in Steinbach a couple years ago but let it slip away over a couple hundred bucks. Still kicking myself.

Did someone say 2-stroke?!!?

Here's a cool 2Stroke event. I would like to time things to ride the Smokies with coinciding to hit the two stroke gathering. I had several old Kawa Triples and they still give me goosebumps. Had a good crash on the old KH500, then was a bit more cautious on the 750's.
Some nice examples in this thread:

Karri - thanks for that. I'd love to ride down there and be a part of it. Even if just on my CBR150R. Just to see all the two-strokes. Looks like a fantastic event.
