You need to pack up the KLR and ride out of the storm. It just might be one of those summers... Rain on the weekends and nice during the week.

Same here. Rain all weekends. Calling for rain all week in the forecast. Been out on the sailboat a few times, but the bike isn't burning much gas.

I did it with locals and we did stealth camping. Went all the way to White Otter Castle and then got picked up at Browns camp. That was a lot of years ago though.

Lappeman - are you planning on entering through Stanton Bay? I've canoe camped in Quetico quite a bit over the past 10 years - but almost all of it through the Stanton Bay put-in. There is about a 750m portage (with a downhill at the end) to Stanton Bay (which connects Pickerel Lake). But it nicely gets you ahead of the bottle-neck that can occur with groups heading west from French Lake. For a six-day trip - I'd probably suggest the loop that begins at Rawn narrows - and connects to Bisk and Beg Lakes and loops all the way around back to Pickerel Lake again. Lots of good fishing. Lots of campsites. I wanted to do that loop a few years ago - but we got so rained out the first day - that we didn't have enough time to complete it - so we just paddled down to Rawn Lake and stayed there.

Hey Mike! Reserved entry for Beaverhouse Lake. Heading east thru Quetico, Kasakokwog, McAlpine, Batchewaung, Pickerel and ending at the campgrounds on French, about 80kms about 6 days or so. Picked that route for the limited portages, only 5...kayaks don't portage well! Just made up a couple of wooden carry yokes for the kayaks so we can carry them overhead like canoes, with a big pack on your back. That way no return trip on the portage for gear! I'm hoping the weather in August is better...but not holding my breath!

I have a kayak yoke that I purchased. You are welcome to use it if you think it might work better than your yoke.

Kayak Yoke by Spring Creek

Thanks Mike! Pretty fancy...I think mine will work out fine though...not quite finished but here it is. It keeps the front end up and my head just barely touches the seat. Can see forward fine and feels pretty good.

Hey Rob, sending you some better weather. That is, right after a couple of Thunder Showers, just to keep the grass green.?
Long range forecast shows rain for next weekend.....

Another fashionable Thunder Bay Blues Festival

The rain Sunday night was crazy intense

When folks are this prepared you know this has happened before

There was ingenuity on display staying dry

The beer helped

As Pifflemaster has said "There is no bad weather only bad gear"

The music was great and it was super party.
