Nanabijou (Mike) is in, so far,
no word from OFAF yet.

We will ride from Thunder Bay, Choke for gas, then to Fort Francis, (stop at Big Bear for gas), then to Dryden. That will be the overnight. Hopefully, (also no word yet) stay at Jacques overnight, then back to the 622, Bending Lake Road, back to the Choke, then back here to Thunder Bay.

Tentative dates are Sept 3, 4, 5 .

Can you do it?

Sounds like a great trip... The dates are unfortunately not in my favour. I look forward to the next ride.

Aside from a few set backs these past couple of weeks, we starting to pack.
Janis and are going to make our way around Lake Superior on the BMW.
I noticed some very interesting roads along the south shore of the Lake east of Marquette Mi., on google earth. Hope they are doable two up on street tires.
Will post some photos along the way.

Go all the way up to Copper Harbour...you will like it. Do the scenic mountain loop, a wee bit south-west of Copper Harbour.

Did that area last year. Road 58/407 east of Grand Marais is very scenic and consists of rough pavement (appears they reused this asphalt from other projects) then turns to gravel for about 10 kms. As long as it is dry, street tires are no problem. Turns back to pavement near Muskallonge Lake. Hwy 123 is an excellent road (narrow, treed and twisty in places) for a casual tour.

So far, the weather looks good for the "Small Displacement Ride", Sept 4th and 5th.

Between the 3 of us, we'll have 425 cc of raging horsepower!

So it was about time for new tires....

Something a bit more aggressive! Got about 16,000kms on the front Hideneau and around 10,000+ on the rear but the front was bouncing and the rear was shot, so....

New Front Dunlop 606...

New Dunlop 606 on rear...

Tire Lube...

Ready to roll

Maybe if the weather co-operates...ya right...I'll get some fall rides in!

I think you will have to demonstrate how the tire lube works.

The road between Grand Marias and Munising (H-58) is now paved all the way through. I west end out of Munising has not improved but previously unpaved sections are very nice.
I'm a street pilot for the time being but will keep track of this thread for any pavement pounding. I'm trying to scrape together funds for a dual sport with some legs but that won't be until 2015, at least.

Dualsport with legs...go extreme! I regret selling my Ktm 530exc...the ultimate dualsport...street legal motocross bike! You can get almost anything that will run good gravel and pavement but when it comes to everything else down to single track and your not looking for long distance over 300km rides...
