glad you guys had a good ride
thats a fun area , if you enjoyed that you might try the Shawnee national forest in Southern or
check out the route from Tower HIll State Park in Iowa on the Wisconsin river head West along th river bluff, either side ......... picking roads at random...... go West towards Prarie du Chien...... then North wandering between WI 35 and 27 nice country
I thought doctor Tom and the Mad plumber were going to MO?
Hey, nuthin' wrong with the King of Beers...

S. Illinois sounds awesome...I think we might be headed up toward Wisconsin pretty soon (Black River Falls or something)...you should go with us...

As far as the mad plumber and the doctor are concerned, they had to bail on this trip....Tom's medical partner who usually covers for him during trips had a family emergency and Tom had to stay home (which meant the same for Bob)

I have to say that camping is way better than staying in hotels (which Tom and Bob prefer) so the trip was just fine without them...

You have to come with us next time...We're thinking Wisconsin in a few weeks, just for the weekend...

I'm off to Tampa next weekend and have to spend some time mending my relationship this weekend following a series of motorcycle trips...I'd be all for Black River Falls in three weeks - we've got to come up with a tag for Duncan with his new (old) 1984XL650 as he will join us...

BTW - Budwiser truly is the King of Beers

Great idea....I have to say that you should scope out each campsite....When you get the camping area, go to the spots that are to your right (the road comes to a "y" and areas A and B (or something) are to the left, and the money spots being C or D are to the right)...We camped in the second campground on the right side of the "Y"...

Its either "C" or "D"...RagsKLR might remember....

I recommend this because despite the large amount of water surrounding the campground, only limited sites offer water views/access....Most of them are in the woods, away from the water (I know, it doesnt make much sense).

Lemme know if I can clarify this at all....

You're talking about the Enduraid near Black River Falls, right? That's in about 3 weeks, and I'm gonna be there. Any other time you want to head for southwestern Wisconsin/Northeast Iowa let me know and I'll maybe meet up with you. I don't think there's a whole lot of dirt or gravel in the southern part of Wisconsin, but I haven't explored much of it yet. Good paved twisties, though.

Fist,

Great trip report!

Would you say there is enough off-road riding to spend a day or two w/o getting on too much pavement? I'm wanting to haul my KTM 525 up there for the dirt, and although it's street legal, I don't want to spend a lot of time on the pavement.

Thanks...

Sweet pics man. Looks like you guys had a great time. The pics are all so good it's hard to pick a favorite, but I think the one with both bikes on their sides is just awesome. Post more if you got'em!

RagsKLR and Fist,
I don't know whether to say "Good on ya!" for telling other riders about the southern Missouri roads (Rolla and surrounding countryside) or "Piss on ya!" for telling other riders about the southern Missouri roads. Either way, nice pics and good ride rep.
I'm currently still in Alaska (balmy at 19º and snowy) but headed to MO in a week to retire to the farm. I don't know just how many ride reports I'll post as the Ozarks should remain a closely held secret.

How about some guided tours. We may even chip in to the retirement fund!

Next season, I'll be postin' reports on my favorite roads (Hwy 17 from Lebanon to Houston included along with all those tasty roads from St James to Elephant Rocks etc. I just have to get back and get the house and Garage Mahal set up.

cool report, I'm starting to get exited about moving to the south. I thought west by god virginia was the only place with good roads. Now I'm getting ideas for where I need to explore. Where was the waterfall pic taken? Was there any other rapids/whitewater on that stream? As a paddler, I am also trying to find places to kayak.

BTW, is there some way to save threads, I'd like to be able to save this thread for future referance. I could cut and paste the address to a word doc or something and save it as a list on my harddrive, just wondering if there's some other way that I havn't found.
