SM tires to fit a 2003 KTM 450 EXC???
Need your help... I picked up a pair of SM wheels for my 2003 KTM 450 EXC and am having some trouble finding tires that fit inside the rear swingarm. My rear rim is a 4.25 X 17. 150 width tires SHOULD work, but some manufacturers make them a little wider than the spec - I just bought a 150 Continental to find it was actually a 158 and didn't fit. Anybody out there have the same bike or swingarm and can give me an idea of what tires to look at? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Distanzia SM.
Really sticky on the street, and hook up remarkably well on dirt/gravel. I don't have a 450EXC, but a 150 on a 4.25 fit with room to spare on my 640Adv, which has the same fitment issues with wider tires.

Nice Adventure SM katoom! Could you do me a favor and take the actual measurement of the rear tire width? Then I could see if the 150 with a 4.25" rim would fit inside my swingarm...

You may have to shave some rubber off the sides. I use a 5" rear rim on my 520 and had to shave the tire with my groover.
You can also have a buddy start the bike on a stand and steady it as you drop it in first and take an angle grinder to the sides of the tire to clear the chain and swingarm. Supermoto racers do it all the time. Search on www.supermotojunkie.com |

Thanks for checking Stobie...
Does anyone else out there have a 4.25 wide rim with a 150 Michelin Pilot mounted on it? If so, what is the actual measured width of your rear tire? |

Sweet...that measurement would be great! Please make note of the tire size (is it a 150 or a 160) and the tire model (Pilot Sport, Race or Road)...
Thanks! |

I just measured the tire at 146mm. I can't imagine you would have any fitment issues. Again, this is a Distanzia SM 150/60-17. Sorry for the delay, mang.
