Brinnon in Jan? Heck I don't have the lower anatomy parts to ride my GS if it snows...but if I'm not offshore then I've got a tw200 I could run over there(slowly). I'm only half hour/45 min from there? Can't ride the little dirt thing either worth crap but it's a lot lighter to pick up. Keep us posted. If I'm home I'll go.

RE Snowcamp Jan 12-15 2007

Details on Snowcamp are located @ http://www.bmwra.org/rallymap

Contacts for additional info are available at this location.

Perhaps some Hood Canal area riders can enlighten us "occaisional" visitors to Brinnon WA re: weather, expectations etc. Anyone have personal knowledge on the RV park...
It would seem more likely to be wet than really cold?

Snowcamp is a hoot. You will not go hungry or die from thirst!

Probly a NO-Snow camp

Since the RV park is at about 150 foot elevation above sea level ( literally, right over the sound ), there is damn little chance of snow. The park is just off Hwy 101, and we'll have the use of the Lodge facility, as well as a covered area outside as well. Probably have to do all the deep-fried turkeys outside, but there is also a kitchen area in the lodge, as well as a couple dryers for our use as well. This is certainly a bit more plush than our usual site, but since that has been replaced with a river, we took what we could get. We will certainly be able to ride for a bit and get into the snow, perhaps down the Penny Creek road, then up and over to Sequim, if the pass is pass-able. There'll be snow there, fer sure!!

I have camped in that exact spot in April for the last several years. Kinda cold with fair tree cover from the rain. Awsome GS riding...

Snow Camp weather

Given the chilly weather forecast for this weekend I am thinking it will feel a bit like Mt. Rainier weather efven though the camp is at sea level. I am hoping to stop by this weekend if the roads aren't iced up too badly.

Forecast is for freezing temps.
Rats.
Due to the recent demise of a local rider, likely due to ice, I'll likely be staying home....dammit, I hate feelings of self-preservation conflicting with the memories of the scent of turkeys frying and booze flowing.

Bring your woolies. Even though it will be at sea level, it's probably going to be on the cold side.

Best campout of the year

Going to be able to use the chains for the sidecar, unless my daughter comes and then we'll cage it there.

It's a great spot but can remain icey in the shaded portions of 101. We are to get hit w/ SNOW 2-6" all along the Hood on Tues late all day Wed and then highs in the 20's-30's the remaining of the week till Monday or so. Could make for some interesting riding! You don't have to ride that far west to gain elevation and then you will for sure find SNOW
