Yeah, sign me up for the rally. I finally got notice my windscreen is being shipped which means I can finally mount the fairing, and I have a new battery on the way as well.
We should pick a weekend and meet in Tellico for lunch and a ride sometime soon. I could get maybe get Fred and some of the gang together.

Well, I've been just busy and haven't updated this thread in a bit. I have a little over a thousand miles on the bike since it's been together. Only a couple of minor hiccups along the way that I had to sort through.
I happened upon a clock and voltmeter locally a guy had in his garage. They are the earlier white numerals on black background gauges, and far as I can tell they were new in the original boxes. Got those installed and wired in this weekend. Haven't found the bulb holders yet for illumination. Anyone know a source for those ?
Took a long ride with my friend Jim on his airhead yesterday. We did the Cherohala/Gap loop from Knoxville. Nice clear day and a little cool on top of the mountain.
Hope the weather is like this for the rally in 2 weeks !

One sweet restoration, Mike. The gauge light holders, are they the rubber holders for wedge base bulbs that push into the back of the gauge case? If so, I think the Help! brand (I think that's the name) of repair parts has them in blister packs. Pep Boys, and I think AutoZone etc, carry Help! products. There's a big catalog near the aisle display.

If the gauges use the 1/4 turn plastic bulb holders, I think I've seen those there too. The company has a website, check the packaging.

That is an absolutely fantastic resto job, Mike!

I've been all excited about just refurbishing my '01 1150GS, and now this thread has me dreaming of doing a full resto' of my own airhead (once I find one to work on)!
