I've bought mine in order to spare the big XTZ, from constant abuse. :)
It was a cheap one, before i start with the enduro mods.
I like it so much that i use it sometimes for commuting(fooling around) though is pretty loud, and therefore illegal.

After my S10, this one feels like an Mx bike :). Handles tight trails, suprisingly well.

Throw on it a pair of serious rubbers, and with a little bit of skill it will take you almost anywhere.

I like my XT in the bush/forest to a point, it does get a bit heavy after awhile...

Ruined a gear lever in a way similar to yours & also bent the peg hanger quite badly, just a gentle off on a tree root. I prefer the XT on dirt/gravel roads, like a light ADV bike.

I ordered a gear lever from xtz660. That one is foldable. It's no biggy anyway...a gentle hit with the boot

and it's back in position.
As for the weight, i guess it all depands on what you're used to. With some diet, xtr is now almost half the super tenere's weight. For my gentle size (6'4''-240) that's super light. ;)

Thats why I have a XR250 aswell.... I'm a short ass light weight
