The 2005 (last year) BCR was pretty trick. As close as you can get to a real replica. Race suspension, Laser exhaust, racing seat etc. Otherwise a carbon light was pretty neat.

I have the Boxer Cup Prep........the true race bike.......well as BMW would supply the teams to mod and go racing.
What makes it a bit different: shorter windscreen wide wheel w/ 180 tire shorter paralever link NO ABS NO heated grips NO rear seat cowl included NO centerstand slightly longer sidestand optional "sport" shocks installed 2003 came in only silver, easier to paint over steering damper The "older" Mamola replika was mechanically the same bike, but with fancy-smanchy paint scheme, almost $3k more over my bike if I recall correctly. The newer Replika and grey/yellow "prep" had options for ABS and such I believe. The replika has Laser cans from the factory, but retained the cat. Lots of people just replaced the cat with a new mid-pipe eliminating the catalyst. Its a really neat bike, I can go from full touring mode with bags to track mode in a bit under a hour.

I had an '02, and I have no idea which year was the best, but it had a BB Power chip, and a Staintune pipe and it would hoooowwl. Too uncomfortable for me though.

Mine was the first of the twin spark motors, an '04 Boxer Cup Prep sold in May 2003. Put 27,000 on it the first year - was one of my favorite bikes of all time. (mine came with a cowl, RR)
I also thought the mandarin/titanium color scheme with the mandarin wheels was about as good looking as anything on the road.

![]() This was my 99. I later installed a dark tinted shield, which made it look pretty nice. Mine had the sport kit, which included taller shocks and a 5.5 inch rear wheel, along with a shorter paralever arm. I also had a carbon fiber lower the factory sold. It's pretty nice. It fits well, allows access to the oil filter and drain bolt and has the same blue fiber in the carbon as the front fender. I put a set of Suburban Machinery rear sets on mine, which made it all day comfy. I also added a centerstand so I could work on it. They're great bikes, but can be very sensitive to tire wear and tire pressure. If you take the time to make sure you have proper inflation, you'll be rewarded with an amazingly competent backroad companion. They do OK with a load, but run much better without. I found that it didn't like to be steered with the bars as much as lots of body movement.
