Hi Mac, hope you can open these links. I found a bbs for GE and some stuff on gpx files and the newer versions of GE beta won't read them. In the thread it says there is a problem with newer GE beta versions. Also a link to a site to download older versions which still allow you to view the gpx files. One guy says to go back to 4.0.2091. Since I'm computer illiterate I haven't tried it yet, so my disclaimer is...

Hopefully you or another computer genius will be able to shed some more light on the subject.

Good job, it sounds like you found the answer to your own problem. As you can see from my last post, I'm using 4.0.2091 (beta). Since you're saying that the later versions have problems opening GPX files, I'm not even going to bother "upgrading" to a later version.

I'd recommend you uninstall whatever version you have, then install. 4.0.2091 (beta). It works for me...

Complete Colorado Pass listings...

I found this a while back via the series of "tubes" certain congressmen call the Internet.

It has coordinates, elevations and list ALL passes, ridable or not.

http://www.aspen-graphics.com/colo-passes.htm

Thanks for the Google Earth charting! If anyone sets up a fly over like Red Cone and Webster Pass let me know. In fact, I have enough beer in the fridge, I think I'll do that right now.

Thanks Matt!

I'm working on a plan to get out and ride some of those this summer. I started building a .gdb of tracks and waypoints. These were great additions.

Now - I just have to find the books I have with trails in them. Drove some fun ones about 5 years ago. Looking forward to riding them this year.

Wow, this just blows my mind.
I may be coming to CO/UT this summer, and am planning as many routes as I can, and you have no idea how incredibly easy you've made my task. Thank you so much.
And I can get directions off-road too!
I'm stoked.
Thanks again. :)

Good job Matt. I'm hoping you found some more passes that can be added to my spreadsheet of Colorado mountain passes at http://www.concours.org/co/Colorado-Mountain-Passes.xls . I will also be updating it soon with some other sources I found this evening.

For photos of some of the passes, check : http://www.concours.org/co/rtd_pass_bagger.htm

Colorado sure has a lot of fun roads and great scenery!

Garmin MapSource will save as a GPX file, which can be imported into Google Earth.
