Mojave Holiday Fun

We drove down to the Mojave Desert on Christmas day to ride dirtbikes for a week.

With friends

The riding crew at it’s numerical height.

We rode various terrain including mountain singletrack.

Big hills.

Cuddeback Lake

Impassible sections.

We found some of the odd stuff you find in the desert.

We found more weird desert stuff-

On top of a large hill.

It got very windy for a couple days so we tried to play in the washes and off the ridges and peaks as much as possible.

And even then, there where very few places that you could get out of the wind.

Matt had to work hard to ride his wheelies in 40-50mph wind. (He rode down the road so the dust blowing right to left is the best gauge of the wind I have.)

It was too windy for a fire so we decided to go out for some Chinese.

Some of our Harley friends came and trailer camped…just because they could.

We took the long way to the Husky Memorial.

It’s a great place to show some love because most of the Memorial is dedicated to love of various kinds. (Family, Friends, desert etc.)

More Later…….

Edit-This is our fire starter technique.

Thanks!

Yes it's permanently placed there in cement. It's surrounded by plaques dedicated to deceased loved ones who played and rode the desert. Some of the plaques are people famous enough that most of our group knew who they where. There’s also a big metal American Flag on a pole that’s kinda cool.

Sadly some jerk shot a few holes in it since this pic was taken in March of 05

The Memorial is obviously maintained by someone as the tires on the bike where new since our last visit.

Nice ride ans pics Stinez! It looks like you guys have got Christmas figured out!

We were also dirt riding and kept cracking up thinking about the guys in mini-vans looking for a parking place at the malls.

That's a better pic of some of the plaques and memorials.

Did you see the new plaque (placed over Thanksgiving) that's laid into that big rock? How impressive is that!?

BTW- There’s an Al Baker Jr. Plaque and a Jimmy Lewis plaque that make me think they're related but I just don’t know. Do any of you know?

Monkey Brains(tm) for Breakfast, Yum-YUM!!!

We do have the BEST fires in the desert!!! Our neighbors had the best fireworks though.

Hopefully the desert will get some rain before the February trip.
I like Matt's new nickname for you; THE ENERGIZER BUNNY!!! ;-)

When do ya wanna go to Stonyford?
