Did anyone on here sell a bike like this (1984 XL600 ) last Fall to a guy named Steve. Would of had somewhere in the neighborhood of 10,000 miles at the time. Steve is selling one now that he bought last Fall from a guy that sounded like an ADVrider in the area. Just looking for some history of the bike - rebuilds, etc.

Anyone know about these bikes in general? Common issues etc?

The one for sale has 14,000 miles now, which sounds like a lot to me for a thumper?? The engine feels very solid, though.

(Not the actual bike)

Hey Patti, the 950 is my daily rider. If I ride it off-road, it will be torn up like my old 640. Then Flux would have to part it out for me.

They wheelie very well...

Just getting broke in. As opposed to the newer KTMs which seem to be broken around the same mileage.....

Funny! I used to wheelie the shit out of one back in the day.

Can't remember the mileage, but never had any problems with it. I was racing more than dualsporting back then though, and all our outlaw riding was on a real dirt bike.

It's was actually Tuna's pic he posted the other day that rekindled my interest in one of these! I'm just trying to decide if an old bike like this would be a decent bike as a true dual sport or is it just nostalgia having it's way with my old self.

I enjoy my old 500, no one has had to wait on me... Yet.

I've done the ride from Acworth many times.

It's not the wheelie i'm worried about. It's the falling off the back an doing a running face plant that bothers me.

My suzuki thumper has almost 30k on it now. It'll be rolling over before the end of spring.
