Good for you

No worries Tommy, they will be grown before you know it. Enjoy them while you can. There will be plenty of time to ride, when they are grown.

Snip...

You guys and gals be safe, have fun, and enjoy life to the fullest. I'll be around, and if any of you DoGs need me, you know how to reach me.
Dirty,

Speaking as a father of 3 daughters, now 21, 23 and 27, who has ridden pretty much continuously since I was 13, I know of what you speak.

When your head and your heart are not into the ride, don't do it. I never quit riding entirely, but I did cut back to a few local rides a year. Kids grow up in the blink of any eye and the time spent with them in their activities is precious...there would be time for my own.

My two youngest daughters started taking rides with me when they were about 10 or 12, much to the horror of their mother. They wanted to experience what their dad was still very passionate about. My youngest and I went to a couple BMW Rally's and did a couple trips up into the Smokies, great fun and very special times.

10 years later - January 2013

Do what you feel, but as they get older, it's very important to share your passions in life with them, doing so will help them learn the importance of finding their own. Don't be afraid to rediscover your own!

You did good!

Dirty,,,,,ya done good. And for some encouragement:
My brother, you may know him, for he's a lifelong resident of your fair city, lost his 40 year old wife on Christmas day a few years ago. There he was with two sweet young daughters to raise and that nasty little lifelong motorcycling addiction some of us seem to get. After much soul searching, he and I decided that in his situation as a parent of young children he probably shouldn't be on the scoot anymore. Sold the bikes and all hint of them. Well, here it is just over 7 years later ( it seems like only months), the girls are young adults and he's probably damaged them all he can by now. Great, well raised young ladies, and brother Robert has re-imersed himself into the biking world. Loading his garage with some pretty nice hardware, he is now pretty much a daily rider.

I will have to admit that a CJ something-or-other came into the picture pretty quickly after the bikes went, but the girls enjoyed that, and one of them now pokes around in her own jeep.

He has no regrets and admits how hard it was sometimes, but as with most things that you put your shoulder into, has reaped great dividends in relationships and satisfaction with the girls.

For this he has earned my utmost respect.

So, do the family thing, save up some bike $$, be safe and jump back in (if you still have the longing) when the kids are able to manage better on their own if something were to happen to you.

Don't make a stranger of yourself around here.

It came from NY and the seller is getting a 950 to replace it but I don't know who the first owner is. Now that I have it and have had a chance to look it over, it appears both guys took good care of it. I'll ride it when it warms up a bit. We have 32F and snow flurries today.

No problem I will be a nice guy and step up and get that bad impulse purchase off your hands. I'm positive this will make you feel whole lot better.

I called Dibs, then spent my money on a conversion van. So you're good.
