Dear DirtDAbby...

why does the ditch water on Charlies Creek road smell so bad? Also, how does one go about removing the stank smell from a Tiger? It really is quite an assault on the nasal passages.

Finally, why does the proprietor of this fine establishment drop an opossum on New Years Eve?

Some friends have done their own version of the possum drop for years (including nominating a possum queen--long story.)

They burn a possum in effigy as it drops, but the best part is that it keeps getting larger each year. Picture an 8' long possum made of pine boughs from christmas trees and fireworks shooting out its mouth and you get the picture.

Highly recommended if your new years party has lost its edge.

So I've always wondered where they got the idea for a possum drop. Thanks for answering that mystery.

So..........how did the Tiger end up in the ditch Monte?

.......and are you sure the stank is only on the Tiger?

It looked shallow compared to that puddle on the left. It wasn't.:palm Stopped the Tiger dead in it's tracks. Poor Squirrelly Girl got mud in her eye pushing that thing outta the ditch. The pants and boots are still on the back porch. I'll probably guzzle some beer and urinate on them tonight to make them smell better.

I keep saying I want to do that ride, but always forget and usually have other stuff planned or a big trip that we are saving for.

I need some help figuring out a problem, and I figure this is a good place to start. I have to wear glasses or contacts to see anything. I tried wearing glasses under my goggles years ago, but that wasn't good because the glasses bounce around, and you end up looking through 2 layers of fog/dust between the glasses and the goggles. Contacts work great... for a while. After say an hour of regular riding or a single lap of a hare scramble, my vision gets bad. Things get out of focus and depth perception goes away. I am 99% the problem is that my contacts are drying out and no longer the right shape to correct my vision. This would be caused by not blinking enough and dehydration. What to do? I was wondering about those sports "goggle glasses" like I have seen kids wear to play soccer. I was thinking if they had a good elastic band to secure them, they wouldn't bounce around. Anyone use those MX style goggles with the prescription inserts?
TIA

If this is a possibility I would highly recommend it. My wife had terrible vision all of her life, then had PRK in 1999. Has never needed glasses since. It was truly life changing for her. She had an "enhancement" in one eye last year. I was amazed at how affordable it is now.

Heads up if you plan to ride Springer Mountain (FS42), Winding Stair Gap (FS77) or Jones Creek (FS28/28-1) areas this weekend, particularly Sunday. The annual Appalachian Trail Fest will likely generate more vehicle traffic than normal.

as others said look into Lasik. I had PRK about a year ago and it has changed my riding for the better. I'm blind without my contacts but having the surgery was great and I enjoy riding and outdoor activities a lot more now not having to worry.

that being said at least one person I ride with has the prescription sport glasses (he doesn't use them with goggles, he used them instead of goggles). that seems to work well for him, and I think would be the best option if you want/have to stick with contacts or lenses.
