Be on the lookout for extremely heavy traffic in and around Dahlonega this weekend due to the annual Gold Rush Days...200,000 folks expected to visit the town during the two-day event.

We're getting the heck out of dodge as of Thursday and away from the chaos--camper is loaded (you're welcome, dear) and pointed toward Vogel State Park.

that depends on who you ask--LOL

Plus, my backside needs to recoop from this past weekend. Held my annual DS ride on Saturday in memory of my son and then took off again on Sunday with a handful who couldn't make it on Saturday. Two straight days on washboarded FS roads on the DR stock seat was rough (and I forgot to put the anti Monkey Butt back in my tank bags during my pre-ride prepping). A good time was had by all and the weather was absolutely perfect. Jeremy will forever ride alongside his mom...

Question for you backwoods folks...

Hey gang, long time no chat..

Got a question that I thought you folks might be able to help me with. I have a desire to get to this shelter up on blood mountain. Is there a way to get there on 2 wheels?

It is on the AP Trail, so I figured no bikes allowed, any ideas?

Map here

I've been up there many times and only access would be along the AT, no bikes allowed. The shelter is at the top of Blood Mountain and along a ridge that drops off pretty steeply on both sides. No access roads/trails to approach it that I've ever seen.

That is what I figured. Thanks for confirming.

Any of you 950/990 Adv owners wanna buy a "like new" suede Dakar seat? I used it on a multi day trip this week and I'm gonna stick with my Bill Mayer. $125 I'll bring it to ya.

Can I try it? Not sure why though. The stocker has been ok for 90'000 miles. I t might be slightly worn out though.
