That's the plan. I don't see many out there at less than $6500 so I figure at $5000 mine's a steal.

If y'all have not been to Two Wheels of Suches (TWOS) yet, this weekend is the time. They are having a FREE swap meet in the car parking lot area. Just bring your stuff and set up shop. There is a big group of us camping up there Saturday August 9. Its' 9am - 3pm. Should be a good time. Come support Bill, Mary, Skip, and the rest of the crew. It's better than ever up there.

Hmmm... swap meet sounds fun. Maybe I'll get to meet some of you finally.

flux_capacitor, where is the railroad bridge in the pic? Looks awfully flat there.

Hypothetical situation:

Let's say you have a 19 year old son that has raced motocross for the last 6 years and is finally ready to try doing something else with two wheels. Wants to do a little off road riding, trails and such. Available are his YZ125 (his ride of choice), a YZ250F with no spark arrestor that shoots fireballs, a 250 suzuki quad and a KLR 650.

Where would you go and what would you ride to further spark his interest and swing him toward a dual sport bike (which I'm actively hunting for)? Looking at going somewhere this Saturday...would prefer to avoid Durhamtown.

In my younger MX days I raced a KX125. Some friends invited me to ride on some trails they were helping maintain at the time (Town Creek), and I went with my KX (no bark busters). It was a blast. A few months later I entered my first hare scramble on same bark-buster-less tiddler. Crashed hard after leading the first 10 minutes or so. Clipped a tree on the right and over the bars I went. I got up and finished near last but had a great time.

If he's comfy on the YZ125 by all means, let that be his scooter to get adjusted to riding under a canopy. The dual sport can come later, once he figures out that the YZ gets pretty bad gas mileage and is a little pipey for the woods.

Have you thought of going to Highland Park? They have both MX and trails there. IT will be busy though. I'm not sure what's up with Locust Stake.. if it's still open that would be a great place too.

According to the FS website, Locust is supposed to be open. You could also run Whissenhunt or Oakey Mtn. both offer some nice areas to ride.

Lake Charles, LA. Yeah it was flat. And humid. I found a beach on that lake and walked into the water , tempted to never emerge. Way too hot there. I flew to Houston and rode my new 950 home.

Locust stake had most of the trails closed but is technically still open. Plan on a real short day....
