I am just happy to still have a job right now. Thank you very much.

Just an update. The fire marshal came by the job today and it was determined to be a lighning strike that hit the propane line. Luckily it is a new fangled line that is resistant to lightning and it only caused it to pinhole instead of blowing apart.

Lots of work to do. The HVAC duct in that area will have to be torn out for access and a bunch of wiring replaced. 3 of the panel boxes are right there.

Of course the move in day is still June 15.

Hey, Ross. I might be able to hook up with you for a bit this Saturday. Once you get the details nailed down give me a shout.

Hey Ross, you guys might consider meeting at Moto400 this Saturday. The Yamaha demo truck will be there and they'll be having yet ANOTHER party. Could be a good time. Wished I could hang around, Ross, but you know, my mom's entire year depends on this one weekend.

I wish I could man. Seems like the $10,000 bikes are not selling as well as the $4000 bikes right now. I see killer deals on 950 Adventures all over the place and it kills me to have to miss out on them right now. One last month went for $6500 with only 20K on the clock.

$7500 would ride the SM, w/3194 miles, to the hissy.

That seems like a great deal to me, if I had the dough I'd me tempted myself. I know you're taking a pounding at that price.

Ross, are you driving Sprinter Van Theatre, or is this a fly'n ride deal?

Uh Oh! I just became a cheap KLR bastard!

I picked up a '99 KLR650 last night and became one of those "cheap bastards" haha. My main purpose for getting this is to use on our TAT trip in 3 weeks from TN to OK. I was hesitant about taking my Strom just because we have another 2 week trip out West 3 weeks later and I didn't want to mess it up and then be scrambling to fix it. This KLR should fill the niche nicely and being able to run full knobbies on this will be a plus. I think with my past dirt experience on the KTM and other bikes, I'll be fine on this beast. Besides, I saw things Willy-B did on his that I didn't think were possible, so I know it can do it!

I also finally got my wife to ride the XT225 up on FS roads, so now she's hooked on the dirt and told me I needed something to join her every weekend or I was going to be riding on the street by myself. I was leaning towards a DR650 just because its a bit lighter, a tad more dirt worthy, and I could be semi comfy on it, but this KLR fit the bill and should work out nice. I miss having something like my KTM for riding at HP, but for just FS roads, I think this will keep me entertained more and definitely in more comfort.

The previous owner was 6'7" and had foam added to the seat which has made it massive, and then along with the suspension beefed up, this is the tallest KLR I've ever seen. Even at 6'4", I'm not quite flat foot on this thing! I love it though. I have tons of room for my legs and surprisingly the seat was extremely comfortable on my 50 mile commute to work this morning!

Here's all the stuff it has and extras!

Quote:
32,000 miles, synthetic oil every 2000 miles.
Runs strong and smooth. Significantly more power than stock. Stops, turns and handles weight (luggage) much better than stock. Well maintained; garage kept; excellent mechanical condition.

Drivetrain:
• @28,000 miles, Schnitz Racing 685cc forged piston, new valve seals, hand lapped valves. Improved power; stronger piston; less vibration
• Doohickey mod (original was intact when removed)
• Big gun headpipe with Laser Duro Pro stainless steel muffler w/spark arrester (not too loud)
• Dynojet stage 1 jet kit
• K&N filter
• Airbox mod
• Carb vent mod
• PCV valve mod
• Gold X-ring chain and steel sprockets (extra 16T front sprocket) in very good condition

Brakes:
• MAP Engineering 300mm front rotor (much improved braking over stock rotor)
• Galfer green pads front & rear
• Braided lines front & rear

Suspension & chassis:
• Progressive fork spring
• Fork brace
• Progressive shock
• Upgraded sub-frame bolts
• Dual-Star Radguard – tubular steel crash bar to protect radiator
• Happy Trails highway pegs
• Aluminum skid plate
• Dual-Star folding shift lever
• Dual-Star rear brake pedal mount
• Dual-Star rear master cylinder guard
• Center stand
• Extra heavy duty tubes in tires
• Tires are about 70% worn: IRC GP110 front, MEFO rear

Body:
• Paint & plastic is in good but not perfect shape – some scratches and visible wear
• Clearview +11 windshield with Saeng edging, plus stock shield
• Maier aluminum handguards with plastic hand fairings
• Happy Trails side racks fitted for Givi bags
• Three 45 liter Givi Monokey bags
• Dual-Star tankbag with rain cover – custom for KLR, four mounting straps, expandable, huge
• Upgraded seat padding and cover

Electric
• Electrosport 300 watt stator
• Dual-Star grip heaters with high & low settings
• Priority Plus device makes rear turn signals into running lights, flashes when braking
• Amber headlight bulb improves daytime visibilit
Here's some crappy pics in my garage. I'll have to get some more in the day time!

Nice windshield

Check out that seat!
