I bought an Olympia Patton jacket from Mike last April. For western trips (12 days-4500 miles & 9 days-3500 miles)I find it to be ideal for the wide range of temps encountered in the deserts and mountain passes. It was very comfy from the 30s to the 90s. The Patton has been discontinued, but Olympia has come out with a couple of similar new models (500 denier Cordura impact zones with mesh in the others)like the GT Air and the Transformer 2. A solid textile jacket with no mesh panels is gonna bake when you're muscling a big bike through the first gear technical rocky trails in 95+degree heat. If you go to Mike's shop in Tellico you can try them on and he'll drop ship to you.

My problem with this western trip is I have to have a jacket that will work well in very hot, as well as, cooler temps. I'll call Tellico and Riders Hill. Thanks.
I have used there Thor Force for the last two generation they have made. Not really brace but very comfortable and very protective gaurd. They are durable and affordable

I use these when I'm riding dirt only on the KLX, one thing though, I'm a tank hugger with my knees and those screws on the sides will scratch the crap out of your tank, doesn't bother me, but some people are more particular about such things.

Thanks gentlemen. I've got a bit to think about. Man it's going to be hot in Moab in August. And thunderstormy in Colorado. Nothing like lightning at 11,000 feet !

Don't sweat it, someone will show you around, there's always a warm body up that way. Heck, I've still got knobs after TT 09. If no one else steps up, I'd be more than happy to show you what I know up that way.

Lloyd,

I bought a Tourmaster transition II. I think it's prolly too hot for what you want because it doesn't vent well, but you're welcome to borrow it for a day or two if you want to try it out. It's waterproof and gets the job done but it's got some loose seams--looks like you get what you pay for
