Good news!!

Winder got a nice steady rain just after dark for most of the night. Boy did we need it too.

How about the rest of you folks.

Little ride report and some pics up for the Saturday leg of the GARTRA "Hooch" dual sport ride. You'll see pics there of "SuchesRider" and "HidenorHare" in addition to Steve "OldeMan" and me and lot's of other riders. It was a fun day, not too technical. We bailed out before the Whissenhunt ORV so we missed a lot of the fun, but there's always another day...

Hey guys, need some help!! me and the wife are wanting to plan a few days in Helen,GA. Pretty soon, within a few weeks. Few questions..

#1 Where can I get a good forest road map of all the areas around Helen,GA ? Which is the best one? Where can I buy one in town, also, can I buy one online somewhere, so I can start trying to figure some dualsport routes?

#2 Would anyone with GPS knowledge be willing to draw me out some routes or tracks to follow for a couple days different riding? maybe more if thers more?

#3 Anyone free in the area that might be interested in riding also? We migth come in like mid week and stay thru the weekend or something.

Here's the good map... they can be hard to find locally for some reason. I got mine in Clarkesville just over from Helen a way. I would order it online though.

I'll be glad to try and coordinate a day with you when you come in town, just let me know when and whether you want easy scenic fs roads or some more technical fs roads. There are some right outside of Helen and then more to the east and west.

There are also a couple of ORV areas nearby, pay $5 and ride for the day. One is very technical rocky hills and a nice loop (Oakey Mountain/Beasley Knob near Clarkesville and Lake Burton)) and one is fairly easy, but fun, lot's of hills and erosion control bumps to play on (Locust Stake near Toccoa) You can read about them on Georgia Off Road here...

I don't do GPS, so I can't help you there, maybe someone else?

I know there was a Google Earth track of one of Flux's big adventures a while back, but not sure if I remember the file being available. I'll see if I can find it.

Here's something else I just found... Online maps.

Sounds good. Let me figure out when the wife can get off work. I can ride the OHV, but she cant. So I'm looking for stuff she can ride. She can ride more then regular forest roads tho, shes been on a few trails. So even the ruggest forest service road is probably within her range. Less Gravel the better. Last time we were there, we went down a forest road, to horse shoe falls or horse something falls.. we took our street bikes down it.. lol.
