Mefos... great tires. Was getting around 7-8k miles mixed use on rear and around double that on front on my 03 Dakar (mount the front tire opposite the way the direction arrow indicates). Since this thread started these tires have more than doubled in price.

I've since gone to the Heideneau K60 Scouts, which are very similar in tread pattern and performance, but a little cheaper. The rear Mefo Super Explorer and rear K60 appear to be almost identical in the 140/80-18 size I use. The front pattern on the 90/90-21 is a bit different on the Heideneau, but I actually like it better both on and off road. And you don't have to mount it backwards.

really like the mefos on gravel and semi sane, single track. wore a set out at about 15k clicks, still had more life in them, but wanted to try out my new k/60's. usually i don't pay much attention to small differences, but i found the mefo's out performed every other tire for my type of riding by such a large margin, that if i ever wear out the k 60's (very tough tire) it'll be back to he mefos for sure.

Been running an Explorer on the front of my BMW G650X Country and Agree with Kamlander on the gravel and summertime roads. Now I'm about due for a replacement and I can get an in stock K60 a lot cheaper just down the street, but if it won't be as good as the MEFO, then why bother or are they close enough to call it a wash??
My bike has a 2.5" wide front rim and I run the 100-90-19 Mefo, with the K60, I can also get the 110-80-19 size. Any thoughts or pro's and con's of the size change while still on the 2.5" rim? Stay with the stock 100-90-19? Stay with the Mefo? ???
