Left me stranded....

side of the freeway on the way to work a little over a week ago...
being towed home.

The next day after cleaning the carburator. Been running fine since. Never did see anything obvious but something keeping it from getting fuel.

I've got an early model but I had a wire grounding out against the coolant overflow tank mounting bar awhile back. It would cause intermittent stalling / no starts. Moved and protected the wire and no more issues. It would be just behind the tank shroud and may be something to check out.

It was definitly a fuel problem

"I've got an early model but I had a wire grounding out against the coolant overflow tank mounting bar awhile back. It would cause intermittent stalling / no starts. Moved and protected the wire and no more issues. It would be just behind the tank shroud and may be something to check out."

Fuel supply to the carb was fine, bowl was full but wouldn't throttle up once it finally left me stranded. Would idle fine but as soon as you hit the throttle it would just bog. The week proceeding it started acting up, intermitently would surge but would clear up about 90% when I went to full choke. I knew then it was a fuel problem, must've had something floating around in the carb and finally got picked up and plugged a pasage/port.

after a little applied muscle we were able to just sneak around..it was a blow down not a road block

we had to lift the back end of the GS1150 with Jesse bags on it to get him through.

Better story would have been, "I went hard core, drove the mighty KLR over it, as the back tire came into contact with the tree I gassed it rolling the tree out of the way so the GS could continue riding with me".

Micah,

I never did thank you for turning me onto the riser. I got one for my KLR, and love it. I just scored a Double Bubble. So, once it arrives, I'll be adding it.

I was looking closely at the pics of your bike, and had a question...

Your bike looks so well-sorted...is there any reason why you didn't shave the shield (at the bottom)?

I shaved mine, and added the strip that they give for free...
