Custom machined links. They may cost a little more but they are 1000 times more solid Id bet. If I can I always buy from EM.

Looks like a Ram mount. I've got one like it. Works great.

Thanks for asking or discussing it guys.

I used to run a great magnetic and strap tank bag. There was a "port" in it that was intended to push wires through, that I poke a RAM ball through instead. There was a map pocket right behind that area.... in true KLR fashion, I took a piece of plastic bread board and cut it down to fit snug in the map pocket. I mounted the RAM ball on the "board" and the rest was history. It worked very well using SPOT's Ram bracket-shell thingy. I did not want one more device on my handlebars at the time.

I loved having the SPOT, but loss of employment dictated I drop service & sold it. Kept the KLR though

I had a second posistion for the SPOT. If weather was bad, or I was riding quite alone, I had another RAM ball hidden inside a Pelican case. FYI, the SPOT shot right throught the Pelican case as if it was not even there.

I do miss being able to take screen shots of the "tracks" at the end of a day and post them for my riding group.

That used to be fun. Great way to remember where the hell ya been too.

Those are two interesting places to mount a SPOT.
Tank bag mount looks good. I'm surprised it worked thru the Pelican case. I've got mine on the bars.

Edit: Screenshot post is a great idea.
