A few days away in Queensland

Just a few pics of a quick 3 day camping trip we did a few weeks ago.

Started of on the north side of Brisbane and headed up over Mt.Glorious and down into Kilcoy. Headed north from there up towards Jimna fire tower. Kept heading north passed Land cruiser park and onto the fast dirt road towards Murgon.

Not sure when we turned off this road but we sort of ended up in Kilkivan, grabbed some fuel and headed out of town a couple of miles north east-ish until we found a track to the left marked on our GPS as a road...

We found out later it was a old stage coach track. All we knew was that it should take us somewhere and apart from all the gates it was a great little track.

The sky was becoming bruised by now and we decided to find a place to camp and seeing as we had no idea exactly where we were we asked a farmer if we could set up camp by a little creek. He was cool about it so we set up camp.

It was a cold night and I left my GPS turned on all night....opps. Still working in the morning. Great little garmin quest.

Off we set towards civilization for breakfast. Then sort of went north towards Maryborough then inland towards Brooweena and back onto some dirt over the Burnett Range area.

This took us back towards Kilkivan and then onto Glastonbury.

Then to Imbil and the campsite near the lake.

another cold night.

We got up early and headed of down some track that had a couple of interesting water crossings and ended up out near Land cruiser park again.

Nice track.

From there it was a bit of gravel Jimna and then back over the very nice Sunday creek road to Kenilworth for Breakfast and we hit the black top from there back to Brisbane via Woodford and Mt.Mee.

A nice way to spend a long weekend.
Next time we might go a few days longer.

Awesome

Thanks for your report. My wife and I are migrating to Australia next year and hope to reside in the Brisbane area. Looking forward to the riding.

Cheers

Phil

Is there any bad riding to be found in Oz? It all looks good, no matter which part of the country you're from! I wish I could say the same for where I live

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO - what a ride!"

Yeah first time at that little cafe, we had just come from Imbill via land cruiser park and sunday creek road. We were the 2 scruffy blokes stuffing our faces with bacon. You were on the 640? with a passenger I believe. I remember seeing the 640 pull up.
