I am surprised that 4th goes to 55 easily then into 5th gear. So one would THINK that one would have more high end room/speeds and at lower rpm's but not really the case.

The muffler I added gave me a bit more hp, torque & top end performance, but I still feel I am struggling to keep the bike at higher speeds.

Friend has a KLR-650 and can ride at 90 all day. That just doesn't work well on my XT.
Plenty of hp & torque to go that fast but not enough to stay there comfortably.

Any chance of there being a 6 speed tranny for these?
That'd be the best thing. Being that the gearing seems fine as is, for anything up to 55-65
maybe I just need to appreciate the slower cruise of it all?..haha
I have just checked it again. I first thought of the Kickstarter-Model which has a kit of 15/39.
But on the second look, you got an E-Starter Model, right? The kit should be 15/45. So you can go for a longer transmission here. But always remember to gain enought rpm in the higher gears, otherwise the gearbox wont like it.
The model from 90-94 has sadly no rev meter. You can estimate it by the table below.

How many miles/km has your bike done yet? They can run a long time, but you loose the power with the time.

Transmission=15/45

Yamaha TW200 pegs fit an XT too.

Maybe that will help, there is some cheaper on fleabay too but not sure they're larger.

Another option is to just roll some steel around your current pegs and increase the size that way, weld it down and cut some cleats with a grinder.

Does anyone know of US supplier that has affordable Stainless Headpipes for the TT/XT600?
XTique has the TT600 mill with the stock headpipe and the left side actually dips down and interferes with the oil drain in the frame, and I seen the later models the headpipe does not drop like that.
Plus stainless would be great so no more rust and go well with the Big Gun EVO X I'm going to use.

I rode my xt last year all the time on the highway at about 60 mph when the speed limit is 70. Its not like the bike cant go 70, but the "cruising" feel of the bike was 60-65.

I love my xt and all, but the top end feel for where I commute was a huge reason why I went out and bought a 950 ktm.

Boseley1980's foot pegs

I got my footpegs in the post from Boseley1980 yesterday and they are superb. Very well made, a superb fit and just what I needed.

Many thanks and I hope to be able to meet Boseley1980 on my way around the world next year.

Really lovley Footpegs. I enjoyed riding them today. I can recommand them to everyone!
The stainless version looks really great in my opinion.

I made quite some progress on my engine revision this week, after i got stuck with several issues. Looking forward to complete the engine this weekend. You can find more pictures in my blog.
Here is a picture with new bearings, reworked cranksaft and gearbox.

Hi Bosley

Do your footpags fit a 99 model Tenere?
If so, how much for a pair and how much for fright to postcode 4455 in QLD

After having my XT660R.. I wish I had bought a late model XT600...
Out of like 30 bikes the XT660R is the one I regret buying the most...
