Looks like there's a set of XT600 front springs on ebay right now, just thought I'd pass it along in case anyone's looking for a set:

Speaking of springs, does anybody have any recomonedations on forks and shock spring rates? I bet I loose half my travel just sitting on the bike.

I'm just about to trade my bike for a '94 XT600. Does anyone have any ideas (other then ebay) where I would be able to get that upper fairing type black plastic piece that sits up by the gas tank? Too bad it seems like it is difficult to get aftermarket parts for these bikes.

I had a 89 Ténéré and a 94 XT600E. Now I'm the proud owner of a XT660R:

I have an 84 bought used with about 15,000 miles on her and I broke the speedo cable at 25,000 and have never replaced it that was 4 years ago.
I have set the valves once and I change the oil once a year justt to keep it lubed. I have never been left stranded and it still starts with a couple of kicks even after winter storage. I rode her last year for 5 days straight on the OBDR through Oregon about 900 miles. I keep her for a spare bike now but I would never sell.

Here's mine, an '89, @ Red Mtn., CO in '92. Still got it, it's waiting patiently for me, as the kids [and me!] get a lil older; and I, maybe, make a lil more $$$.

Xt 500, 1984
This is mine: XT 500, 4 Valves, 1984, ~120000 km
Same as XT 600 only smaller cylinder, was built for Austria only: ![]() ![]() VERY RELIABLE!!!! I use it during winter in the city and in the forests during summer. :) But the pics are not very up-2-date: I painted all white plastics black. Pics will follow soon!
