XT600Z Tenere sidecar rig

Here's a mock up of my Tenere with MZ Superelastik sidecar.

I own another 1984 XT600Z Tenere, a 1986 XT600, and a 1991 XTZ750 Super Tenere.

Ok so theres no XT550 thread I thought I'd toss my XT here.

Don't mind the oil, I took this while figuring out the oil problem, it had 6 qts of oil/gas mixture in the crankcase.
She's got a whole 6430 miles on her. New tires, from the PO Cheng Shin trials front and rear, figured I'd wear them out before going shopping for new ones.

Just got this one a week or so ago and I am planning on rebuilding the engine and front fork and converting it into a decent adventure bike setup.

its a 1995 XT600 with around 10,000 miles on it. The previous owner put on a acerbis extended tank, supertrap exhaust and a custom rear rack (I think it custom made, not sure)

Handgaurds are universal. I get mine from Rockymount the d-flex's, they're tough as nails. Aluminum mount, heavy plastic deflector.

I'm tryin to find out what bend the XT bars are, I'd like to go with an aluminum bar.
I really like the pro-tapers on my ATK's they're nearly impossible to bend.

ya know I am not really sure it was something the previous owner put on, but I think they are Acerbis hand guards. (they are soft though/no metal and in my opinoin dont really provide much protection compared to the metal hand guards I used to ride with)

They are standard XT600 Yamaha hand guards - colour coded to the bike and even have Yamaha embossed on them. They don't offer as much crash protection as say Acerbis, but give better wind and rain protection.

I think I may go with the Acerbis guards then to keep from breaking my levers. I spend about 20% of the time picking my bike up off of trails when I do the technical stuff. Too bad there isn"t anything to protect a shift lever though>

Thanks for the info everyone.

Has anyone tried upgrading their rear suspension with something a little more off road rated?

Was it worth the upgrade?

I have a TT600 rear shock revalved with YZ internals, and has damping adjustments. It might be quite good, but raises the rear end an inch or so,and being a short arse it's just a little too high.It wouldn't matter too much off road, but as I mainly ride gravel and seal it's not so easy to get on and off,so use the standard shock.
