Ouch.

Beautiful bike, though.

I pm'd Teti about the fairing a while back. If I understood him correctly, it was one of these:

Maybe this will help:

"the original idea was dottori, but because of cost we copy my 990 in fiberglass, and a local artisan of my people just did.

As for the gearbox, anyone can contribute something?"

(I think that is close)

I can feel the same bulge on the EE tall soft that is on my wife's 525EXC. I have an EE tall soft on my 525 EXC but mine is an 05 with the one-bolt seat while hers is an 03 with the old two-bolt setup. Mine does not have the bulge.

The EE tall soft feels nice and I can do some pretty long days but I stand a lot when I ride. Someday I would like to get a Renazco seat for it.

Anybody agree or disagree?

Thanks,

Seems pretty cheap......................

I believe that year had a kickstarter gear issue, might check that as well as how many hours are on the motor, especially the valves.
Check all the usual bike stuff, anything that is supposed to move needs maintaining and anything that shouldn't needs tightening.

LOL. It's the 05s that have the intermediate gear issue.

Hello All,

I just traded for a '04 525exc, and I am also riding a 990"S"

I have a couple of questions, and do not have the time to look at all 50 some pages, so forgive me if this has been gone over.

What is the highest set of bars that I can run with a Scott's Dampner installed and weilded?

What is the best skid plate?

You guy's are gonna kill me for this one, what is the best........oh I better search that one, I am sure there are lots of info. on oil....

Take care all, Eric.

Oh, no you didn't!
Ask about oil!!!!

Get a sub-mount for the Dampner and that will raise your bars 25mm I believe. Beyond that there are spacers or different bends but 25mm is a lot.

I like Enduro Engineering for just about everything.
Don't forget the clutch slave protector, shark fin and radiator guards (I used KTM's)

Oh, and Mobil 1 20-50W from WallyWorld, $22.00 for the 5 quart jug.

Oh man you didn't just recommend THAT oil did you? It'll make the muffler bearings whine... You should use... blah, blah, doh de doh

I have 12 billion miles on the original oil with no breakdown at all, you really should try....

Top 1 Pro Racing Synthetic.

(if only because they support Team Rally Pan Am's Dakar effort. Go Jonah! )

Just don't use snake oil.

I use the stock Magura bars and like the bend. I also run the GPR underbar steering stabilizer and that raises them about one inch. Don't forget longer throttle cables, I use Motion-Pro 3" longer ones or you can rotate your throttle tube down and that can give you a little bit more if you need it.

I have tried Enduro Engineering aluminum, Flatlands Racing aluminum and the KTM plastic skidplates. My favorite for protection is the Flatlands Racing unit and it also mounts better on the bike than the EE one. (uses factory threaded holes in the rear and a sano front mount) It also is easy to change the oil without having to take it off. Overall I prefer the KTM plastic one. It mounts with one Dzus screw so it comes off on on in seconds and doesn't reflect as much engine sound as the aluminum skidplates. On a lowered bike I would only run an aluminum one though. My wife's 525 is lowered about 1.5" and it takes a beating. Not sure if the plastic one would hold up.

I'd post a pic but I can only figure out how to do it half of the time.

Anyways, bike is awesome!

damn good deal. Congrats!
