Here is the YX140

YX is a joint venture between Honda and Jialing.

This is a oil cooled YX140... note the oil cooler

They are u-bolted to the grab handles and bolted to the wire loops by the passenger pegs. Boxes are Plano dry boxes from Bass Pro Shop.[IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG]

Do you have any more links with info to this bike? As in a price, parts availability? Is Jimmi the US distributor?

Tweeker, checked out your report, nice. My business peak will be occurring in the next 45-60 days.

Put my DR250SE winter project on the road this past weekend, finally. Will try to give a biased comparison of the DR200/250/350SE's as MT rigs. Much has been done and there is plenty to do.

Here's a pic.

Nice Job Steve GS!

My bike is identical less the boxes and that seat. What seat do you have on there. It has to be more comfortable than what I have now.

Great riding blog

Here is a link to a great blog. This guy lives in Santiago Chile, and has done many trips on his honda xr250. Reading it will make you want to head off to Chile... tomorrow To dine on roadside empanada's and beer.
Well written, with great photos.

The seat came on a dirt DR350 parts bike I had picked up last year. It's a Baja Off Road Products item. It is a tall version and for me with a 30" inseam I can barely get my toes to the ground. It's also about 6" longer than the stock seat which is nice. But I actually get excellent ergos from the stock seat which I will use. The tall seat forces me to roll over too much for the bars and destroys my optimal balance between legs and arse while riding.

Overall the bike is in only fair cosmetic condition with the tank and fenders somewhat beat up. I plan to leave it this way, nothing worse than tripping on a pristine bike. However, beneath the surface I will have it in excellent mechanical condition. So far I have had to rebuild/repair/replace the clutch, the rear suspension bearings and bushings, final drive, headlamp and fairing, controls, and brakes.

Have fitted Happy Trails pannier racks and have just ordered their top rack for the DR200SE which I think will fit. Will report results.

Sorting out the stock engine for overall condition, performance, and economy. Seems to need 5000+ rpm to make power in 5th and 6th. First mileage check gave me 66mpg with average running. Engine struggles a bit between 5000-6000 rpm which could be because of stock jetting, a carb ailment, or both.

Thanks for the link; South America is a high priority destination for me.
