1989 XR600R - Tail Rack Options

Hello,

Looking for some information around a rear tail rack for an 1989 XR600R. I'm struggling to find anything other than the $140 dollar XR's Only Billet rack.

Curious if anyone has had success with using XR650L racks and what customization that entailed to make it fit.

The guys at ManRacks said there is one in design, but the ETA has been communicated. Also, I found the one made by Eagle, but they didn't offer one specifically for the XR600 and wasn't sure if any others would with with minor modifications.

I appreciate the help.

Nice looking rack. Do you make them for sale? I see you're in Albany and often pass through there on my way to Eugene to see family.

Thanks.

Its not perfect, a couple of changes I would make on another one. I could probably be persuaded to make another one, made one for my son's XR250 as well.

PM me and we can discuss further details.

Also try Ballards, they do a good rack that mounts into the subframe, very sturdy and strong for the trail.

A mate and I have also been searching for rear racks for the 600R's and haven't found a lot either. Let me know what you come up with. Sounds like a custom build is the only way to get anything substantial.
FYI I've been in touch with Ballard's here in Australia and they don't have anything in stock anymore.

Cheers,
Scott.

Hi Scott,

XR's Only makes an Aluminum Rack (http://tinyurl.com/l8bqsce) but you loose your tail rack bag. Mishta was nice enough to work with me and build a custom rack that fits over the tail bag. I met up with him last week Friday and got it installed this weekend.

My plan is to add a Koplin Fuel Pack Jr. (http://www.amazon.com/Kolpin-89185-F.../dp/B00384CCBA) mirroring what Mishta did on his XR600 as well.

I gave Mishta my measurements over the phone with a couple pictures and was really impressed how well it fit to the frame. It has four points of contact; 1:) left side seat bolt, left & right rear fender bolts and right muffler bolt. Super solid frame and excited to use it.

Thanks again Mishta!
