The Black Hills are just chock full of fantastic twisties, but once you head north it's like this for literally 300 miles. I hit Highway 2 in NoDak and it's like this for another 350 miles to Grand Forks. After visiting my son I turned around and rode back the same way. Over 1,300 miles and literally only two turns; it wore the center out of my rear tire so badly that the belts were showing and I still had probably 85% left on the edges! Look how square that thing is! The kind folks at Sturgis BMW helped me deal with this little surprise:

They were very busy hosting an open house but dropped everything to get a new tire on for me and get me back on the road. Outstanding service!

try the 500 mile weave and save some center meat ...

Tires tend to wear faster on long trips due to sustained high temps. Add to that a straight road, and wear accelerates.

Weaving reduces surface contact, temperature, and rider boredom.

Yep, long and lonely. Had to drop below the ton to feel safe taking this shot

That turned out to be pretty much that camera's last shot. The road was that lonely, no-one had been through for about 6 weeks to knock the slime off in the causeway...

Some from Vietnam. A "hidden" road north of Mui Ne - it wasn't on the map, and a local drew us some pencil lines on ours... probably the most deserted area I saw in Vietnam

Another on that wasn't on our map... from Dalat down to the coast a bit further north than the normal road. Dropped 6,000' in about 25 kilometres... with bugger all traffic.

A man should only do the work that is required of him. To do more is a form of greed.

Somewhere in northern PA two years ago, west of Scranton, near one of the State Parks. Saw two vehicles while sitting around and enjoying a cup of tea and a smoke. Awesome trip...

Unless you are living on the edge you are taking up too much space.

The shortest distance between two points is boring
