LC4 Hardened Wheel Bushings?

Does anyone make hardened wheel bushings for an LC4? I'm in the process of replacing the rear wheel bearings, and I found that the aluminum wheel bushing (disk brake side) has a deep groove worn in it. Is after market hardened bushings available for an LC4?

Enduro Engineering has them in the catalogue for the smaller singles.
They look like they could cross over. I am the same place you are. I ordered more KTM cause I am needing to get the machine together so I didn't take the time to investigate.

It looks like I'll have to buy the stock KTM wheel bushing and send it out myself to have it hard anodized.

For the hard anodization with Teflon coating, the cost is approx. $40 per lot of parts. At work, we occasionally send parts out for this coating and I'll just include my wheel bushing.

Don't waste your money on the EE spacers. They wear out just as fast as the stock parts, and worse yet they come with cheap Chinese bearings.

The solution for me was to buy bearings with the same OD as the spacer, knock the center out of the bearing and turn the stock spacer down to the new ID of the modified bearing. Leave a slight interference for a tight fit and press the bearing over the modified spacer. You will have a hardened surface for the lip seal to run on that will wear practically for ever and greatly extend the life of your wheel bearings. I also give all the WB seals a quick squirt of chain lube after washing the bike. Now I have to work on the problem of breaking drive side rear spokes.

Tom,

Are you getting the cush drive spacer done too? I believe there are two for the rear wheel, one for the cush drive, and of course two more for the front.

I have been thinking about doing this too. Wheel bearings that wear out at 10,000 miles just ain't cool

I pounded my wheel bearings out, picked the grease seals out, regreased them and pounded them back in.
They are running smooth. I am close to 20K miles.
They all had some grease still present on removal.
I was pissed that I wrecked the seals.
Someone suggested a grease needle so I bought one to try.
I guess they could stand a shot every 10K or sooner.
I figured I am taking a chance regreasing them but I hate replacing good parts.
I think KTM wanted $90.00 for the big one in the sprocket carrier.
Doing front and rear could be a couple of hundred easy with new seals and bushings.

I bought the rear wheel bearing from a local bearing dealer. High quality SKF made in the U.S. bearings were $11.99 each and the shaft seal (disk brake side) was $3.99.

By the way, due to a groove worn in the disk brake side bushing which allowed contamination past the seal, damaged the bearing to the point where I couldn't turn it by hand. The hard anodization w/Teflon coating bushing should help to extend its life.

I was checking out the All Balls Bearings and Seals website today and they are coming out with hardened bushings. Don't have any part numbers up yet that I could find.

the EE bushings for the smaller bikes fit fine and IMHO are much longer lasting than the stock KTM part.

FWIW - CR seals makes a product called a Speedi-sleeve. It is a hardened SS sleeve that can be pressed on over the surface a seal rides against. You can run these with th stock seals and they will last almost forever.
