Since the bike is up and running for now, I've decided to post my rides with it on Day Trippin'.
http://www.advrider.com/forums/showt...0#post13888680 Hope you enjoy the further exploits of the Mighty Tempter. I'll continue to use this thread as I do work on it though.

I've just added another "New Old Bike" and here's a teaser. Will take more photos when I get it out of the truck.
Any guesses?

Yea, I'm cross posting this.
Since then, I've cleaned out the carb and it's still having trouble running. Battery is low, so will be charging it up to see if it's the weak spark. Compression was 95psi, minimum is 70psi, so that's good. Weird, the spark plug had alot of gaskets on it, so I removed them and the piston ended up hitting the plug and smashing down the electrode. Guess that's why they were there. Have to go and get the right plug for it.

Cool thread. I'm not sure it ever occurred to me to chrome my trail 90, but the bike above has given me inspiration for a 'baller version.

I guess if you can get the tempter running, i can take the final steps and get my gsx(gs)250 working nicely.
It's fantastic tos ee all those other old bikes there too. B.t.w. what's with that oversized rear sprocket on that one scooter type bike? only reasons taht come to mine are hitching a trailer, or getting it to go down the street on one wheel for giggles. |

It appears it's like a CT90 or 110. Not quite sure why such a large gear as they are gear pretty low already.

Looks like I might end up with a Tempter before too long. A friend has one he has no interest in and offered it too me.
Been dropped and needs the headlight bracket and both turn signals on the left side. One dent in the tank on the other side. Supposed to run well. You seem to still enjoy the bike. Mind sharing your riding impressions to keep me from going crazy while waiting until I can go get it? |

A friend of mine bought a gr650 tempter out of a guys backyard 10 yrs. ago. The bike was in average condition but had not been run in yrs. I passed on it but my friend bought it for $300. When he went to pick it up the guy says "oh, and don't forget the spare parts I have in the shed" A set of NOS carbs and a spare motor with 1000 km's on it!
as well as a couple of boxes of misc. parts. He failed to mention it when I was looking at the bike. Oh well at least my friend got a good deal . He spent a week of swapping parts around and got it running pretty good . rode it for a couple of months and sold it for $1600.
