This was the little Suzuki that had the cylinder head off last year. Looks complete now.

This is the home owner's original Suzuki he bought brand new.

Bentley Scrambler, very rare.

That's about it for the Garden Party for this year. We had a great time with all the good company and great bikes.

Since the bike is up and running for now, I've decided to post my rides with it on Day Trippin'.

Hope you enjoy the further exploits of the Mighty Tempter. I'll continue to use this thread as I do work on it though.

I've just added another "New Old Bike" and here's a teaser. Will take more photos when I get it out of the truck. Any guesses?

Yea, I'm cross posting this. Since it was New Years at the time with nothing else to do.

Since then, I've cleaned out the carb and it's still having trouble running. Battery is low, so will be charging it up to see if it's the weak spark. Compression was 95psi, minimum is 70psi, so that's good. Weird, the spark plug had alot of gaskets on it, so I removed them and the piston ended up hitting the plug and smashing down the electrode. Guess that's why they were there. Have to go and get the right plug for it.

Cool thread. I'm not sure it ever occurred to me to chrome my trail 90, but the bike above has given me inspiration for a 'baller version.

I guess if you can get the tempter running, i can take the final steps and get my gsx(gs)250 working nicely.

It's fantastic tos ee all those other old bikes there too. B.t.w. what's with that oversized rear sprocket on that one scooter type bike? only reasons taht come to mine are hitching a trailer, or getting it to go down the street on one wheel for giggles.

I say go for it, if I can do, anybody can.
It appears it's like a CT90 or 110. Not quite sure why such a large gear as they are gear pretty low already.

Looks like I might end up with a Tempter before too long. A friend has one he has no interest in and offered it too me.

Been dropped and needs the headlight bracket and both turn signals on the left side. One dent in the tank on the other side. Supposed to run well.

You seem to still enjoy the bike. Mind sharing your riding impressions to keep me from going crazy while waiting until I can go get it?

Parts are pretty easy to come by via ebay. Since it was a one year import, it's an unusual bike. Parts can be had outside the US as it was made for a few years more. It came in three color choices for the US, a reddish orange for the X model, two tone red like mine and a really nice silver and blue. There's one of those tanks on ebay right now. Turn signals are very common to come by as many of these bikes end up being parted. Weak point is the chain tensioner. It's a self tensioner and be careful if you ever have to remove it and reinstall it. Not sure if you know the features of the bike, like the releasing flywheel, oiling jets under the pistons, balance shaft, mono shock, D model has air adjustable forks and cast wheels. I've been riding it alot lately as my normal commuter has an engine problem and it's pretty fun to ride. Pretty good low end power, sweet spot just above 5K rpms, gets over 50 mpg. Here is my running ride report with it.

Two other Adv members have them. Also, there is a small community online.

Have fun with it.

A friend of mine bought a gr650 tempter out of a guys backyard 10 yrs. ago. The bike was in average condition but had not been run in yrs. I passed on it but my friend bought it for $300. When he went to pick it up the guy says "oh, and don't forget the spare parts I have in the shed" A set of NOS carbs and a spare motor with 1000 km's on it! as well as a couple of boxes of misc. parts. He failed to mention it when I was looking at the bike. Oh well at least my friend got a good deal . He spent a week of swapping parts around and got it running pretty good . rode it for a couple of months and sold it for $1600.
