But after ordering all that last night I really noticed how unsatisfied I was with my fusion this morning.
For me, I noticed that all of that stuff last A LOT longer than the expensive fusion /mach3 stuff. I used to get 3 shaves max out of a mach 3 blade. If I had a full beard I would have to trim it down before I attempted to shave it clean.

With the safety razor stuff, I the blade lasts 3 times as long, I could shave a full beard the same as 1 day stubble, and the soaps last longer than a cane of shaving cream.

I've been trying different blades out and have definitely noticed a difference. I just ruled out Derby- they just don't give a close shave for me.

If any other safety razor noobs wanna give the derbys a try, PM me your address and I'll send the rest of mine your way. There are only 3 or 4 of them- but it might be worth a try...

In the shower, I just rub the same bar of soap that I use to wash with directly on my face and then work that into a thick lather. Absolutely baby's ass smooth and no more equipment needed than a razor and blade.
I joined Badger & Blade a few day ago and told them I basically do the same thing.

That went over well.

I've got a bunch of Personna medical prep blades that are very good, but I keep coming back to the Feathers. If anyone wants to try them PM me your address. I'm assuming it's okay to wrap them up and put them in an envelope to mail.

Good thing it isn't a Honey Badger, your sink would have been eaten by now.

not again

I need to stay away from this forum.
Started looking at the rimfire thread ; bought 2 new guns.
Started looking at this thread : bought new Futur/soap/brush/stand.

May report back on new shaving results. Throwing out cheap disposables and Fusion handle . Haven't bought any Fusion refills since I noticed what they cost.

OK so opened my stuff on the 25th and looked bad enough on the 26th that I thought I would give it a try. Did the hot shower, then hot towel thing to prep.

Lather covered well (used a cream, not a soap) just wasn't as frothy as I was expecting.

Took a deep breath and went at it. Honestly, don't know why everyone is so freaked out by this. It wasn't hard, I didn't nick myself even once. I did the three pass thing with new lather each run. Pretty happy with the results. Need to get a bit better at the chin area but no complaints.

If you guys haven't tried the Cella Almond Oil shave soap you need to. It'd kind of a putty consistency and produces this amazing thick lather. Smells fantastic too.

I've got a pretty heavy beard, but I can get such a great shave with the Cella and my Feather razor with their blades that I can skip a day and look presentable.

I've already used it twice and no blood was lost.

Now that straight razor I tried, blood was flowing with the first swipe.

Cool, you will like it. Close saves, the blades are cheap and and you can use it for your manscaping too.
