Anybody else got a monster? Safari tank I mean! I bought Blue second hand and I thought the seller said it was a 32 litre jobbie. Now last week coming home, I did 520 GPS ks and still hadnt hit reserve!
I know I get 6 litres per 100 ks, so something is amiss. So off with the tank, drained completely, addded 5 litres from a graduated container, rode 200 meters to a fuel station whereupon it took 31.96 liters!!!!!
I have a 37 litre tank!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not complaining, just wonder what the story is, I,m going to call Safari next week, vaguely I remember hearing of a 36 litre tnak once upon a time??
Any comments??

My blue Safari tank also took more than 36 liters. It wasn't noticeably deformed either, and fit onto the bike just fine.

did the full day course of tksmiths adventure rider training. brilliant course. reccomend everyone do it when possible.

did a heap of drill in the morning, which helped me get a hell of a lotta confidence back, and also learnt alot about the bike. and then after lunch we went out and played

the DR loves deep sand.

i put new tires on the back, pirelli scorpion mt90s on. offroad they did everything i asked of them, onroad once the wax has worn off they are great. wearing a bit fast but i done near on 1000kms since they were put on sat week ago and i run slightly lower pressures so not too fussed. got some good vids of the day
will do some cutting to get the relevant things and to keep the file size down and will post them once i wake up

Wicked Safari Tank for DR650 - WTF!

Afternoon all,

Firstly, mad stuff you guys do here, Im in awe.

Secondly, and very importantly for me, was just wondering what the latest on getting the last 5-6 litres of fuel out of the 30 litre Safari Tank is? Ive read some stuff about bending the inlet elbow and pressurising the tank by blowing in it, but seriously theres a lot of fuel still in mine when it stops flowing and i dont want to have to blow in the tank for the last 100 km or so!

Im in Sydney, but any help or suggestions would be good at this stage. Im off to SA next year and i need to get this sorted because I need all the fuel in the tank!

Also, am running stock airbox with a Staintune full system. Sounds great, but i changed the main jet to a 145 and made other changes (- Pilot remains standard, Needle to 3rd clip, Airscrew two and a half turns out)
per Staintune's instructions and it seems to run pretty rich now... I dont really want to change the airbox if i can help it but im interested to hear what you guys have come up with.

Thanks for reading this far, I love my new DR650 and I humbly seek your combined wisdom because Im new to all this!

Thanks and regards...

Fork seals

Hi DR spanner twirlers

Anyone ever replaced their front fork seals? Difficult job? Any tips? Dumb question but are there oil and seals in both legs or only the one without the caliper on it? How much oil do you put back in? Any special tools needed?
Thanks in advance.
