It's a rev limiter/timing type thing but as it isn't plugged into anything on the DR, junk it.

On the FCR39, you can snap off the arm and put a bit of tape over the hole.

Send them this way if your ditching them, also the ones you see on Ebay that look like originals are anything but, Absolute junk.

racca,

if your chasing a stock tank, just keep an eye on fleabay, plenty come up.
Most guys fit an after market tank as soon as possible.

Safari 30lt Yellow tank

I bought a 17lt tank from this Ebay seller in Jan for my DRZ400, very happy. They are listed as 'Second Hand, unused'. When it turned up, the return to sender sticker was 'RVAqualine, Vic'. So they are from the factory and sold on Ebay as second hand unused as they have very small, almost unnoticeable marks on the tank. Selling for alot less than new cost and comes complete with everything needed. After a few rides you would never pick the difference.
This one is Yellow 30lt and is $455 + 35 postage.
I am more than happy with my purchase, so posting up here so others may snap up a cheap tank.

Hey dobbo

Thnks mate but I've got my original sitting in the shed. Just expressing my disbelief that that is the price put on a secondhand one in FM. Must be thousands of em lying around in sheds in Australia alone.

Cheers.

Racca,

no problem, thought that may have been what was going on.

I am surprised they even get put up for sale, $350.... got to be dreaming!

I am hanging onto mine, for when I sell the bike, I will strip it back to stock and sell all the accessories separately. Also, when my son get's his 'L's I may put it back on to lighten the bike for him to learn on.

Although, I had to refit it for awhile when I found a small split (about 1" long) in the bottom of my 30lt Safari tank. only found it when I had the tank of to do valve clearances, and I'd given it a wash. found it along the edge of where the cross brass sits (could never have seen it if the brace was still on) checked the depth of the spilt which was around 1.5mm, then rang Aqualine and spoke to Robin, he was prepared to send me some plastic welding rods, and told me the base of the tanks are 5-6mm thick so still little risk of a leak developing. I went to a local plastic welding business who repaired it for about $30. stronger than ever now

cheers
Dobbo

Spares

Hello all dr riders. I am setting off on a trip from nort nsw to darwin (return). A mixture of tar and dirt, staying at country pubs with some bush camping thrown in. What essential spares/tools would you take. ( trying to ensure i am not missing somthing vital) Thanks Mat
