worth riding around about demo models. was lucky to score one that the dealer received as a demo model but didn't actually rack up any km.... $6750 on the road.

those ebay chinese discs aren't bad. had a front and rear set posted over for only $110 a while back and they worked fine. they are around $135 now for the set. not a floating front disc but shouldn't matter if you aren't racing the DR.

The rear one I fitted has now got more than twice the kms on it than the original, good things IMHO.

520 chain?

bugga.
I'm going to have to replace my chain and sprockets - did the rear not that long ago (only a couple of 1000 k's) and the chain certainly measured like it was in spec (dead on the listed numbers if I recall) but it's showing signs of noticeable notching on the teeth.

I had the 44 tooth 520 on the back and I'd like to stay there - seeing as I'm thinking of playing about a bit with sprocket sizes, there's probably no reason why I shouldn't go to 520. The bike mainly sees commuting duties etc etc. now I can get a DID VX2 520 from Torpedo7 at the moment for $90 (Holy Cow!) and a rear sprocket's not hard to come by (VSM has 'em for example) .. but what about 520 countershaft sprockets? I'm blowed if I can find one anywhere - maybe my web search skills are just dying :)

So - anyone know where I can get a 520 stock (15 tooth I think?) countershaft sprocket for the DR?

cheers,
Slap

(I'm quietly hopeful this wear explains the harshness I've always felt was drive related - and it will go away when it's all replaced .. hopeful!)

JT do 520 css. From Link so most any dealer should have access. Not sure they actually list them as DR650, but if not, DR Big is the origin. I probably have the part # outside somewhere if you have no luck.

Hi Sidetrack one,
keen to see how the tyre holds up for grip & wear.
Are you going to be doing much or any Tar with that tyre?
Chappy.

chaingang css?

What about chaingang front sprockets?

I've had a look through the JT spec's and the DR BIG css are 0.5mm different in the radial positioning of the mounting holes ...

DR 650 525: http://www.jtsprockets.com/catalogue/sprocket/JTF1448
DR BIG 520: http://www.jtsprockets.com/catalogue/sprocket/JTF438

Chaingang appear to offer both 525 and 520 for a 2010 DR650
http://www.chaingangchainsandsprocke...-to-750cc.html (with a "please ring us" by the looks)

I could get both sprockets from them and a chain from wherever :)

hmm ....

The JT packaging in front of me has 3 codes on it:
27511-14A01
8 851762 352164
31-14A-15/12

and the 15t 520 sprocket has engraved on it:
437-15

My bike had a 520 chain on it when I got it. I have used both the stock retainer and currently a PC one and had no need to rat out the holes, but simple enough if needed.

I am a fan of the Chaingang rear sprockets, I've been using them for perhaps 20 years, but I found their CSS lasted not much longer than the cehaper ones and cost substantially more, so the JTs are better value for me swapped out at 3-5000 kms. A DID VM or RK EXW will last more than 20,000, perhaps 30,000 kms on my DR and 1 Chaingang rear will do 2 chains.

520 JT Sprockets

Looking at my notes from the JT catalogue back in 2011, I haven't actually used 520 yet.

Front JTF 437 in 14,15,16 teeth

Rear JTR 822 41 to 52 teeth.

For front 13 tooth look at JTF507,(from KDX250).
