Sparks to Virginia City, Lagomarsino Petroglyphs Dualsport Ride

Fletch and I took a nice full day dualsport ride from Sparks to Virginia City, NV. A nice warm February day. This ride offers a great mix of dualsport riding with highlights of wild horses and the largest unspoiled petroglyph site in Nevada.

I did a ride over there last summer on my VStrom 650. Great riding area.

BTW it is possible to get to Lockwood. When you backtracked from the locked gates and then started heading west, about 4/5ths of the way between your SVC007 and SVC004 points there is a road heading north that goes thru.

Its the point that I have centered this zoomed in map: http://www.gpxchange.com/gpxmap/mapp...&print_scale=0

Thanks. I've looked at the maps since the ride and can see several variations including a legal out to Lockwood. We did the ride on the spur of the moment and didn't really have any good maps with us. We'd probe, hit a dead end, then turn around and try something else. Am anxious to go back and add some more tracks.

Turns out the the link to the map must have been specific to my session at the time. It links to the area, but is not zoomed or centered to where I intended.

If you've got the jiggys for it, or a modded jeep, Bronco Canyon is about 3 miles South of the Petroglyphs. reno4x4.com has more info on the trails in northern nevada

If you can, please provide more details. Our 4x4 group works extensively to try and save our offroad areas.

the land is already bought and paid for. what happens next is up to our county planning commision, then to the commisioners.
you can keep track of the situation here: http://www.virginiacitynews.com/index.html
