My Intro.
I'm new here and will have a lot of questions about my 1994 R100RT. I have had many bikes in my time but now only three that I ride. Two Harley's and a BMW. The BMW has been with me for just over two years and has 52 K on it. It is showing signs of much needed maintenance. I will be doing the forks soon and need advice on that (parts) but right now I'm looking for a speedo and mufflers. Maybe complete exhaust system. I'm sure I will learn more about this forum, like where to post "looking for parts", but for now it is just a HELLO.
Thanks, PhineasBMW |

World's Most Expensive Springs
Based on DaveF's recommendation, I decided that I too would replace the carburetor slide return springs on my /2. He noted a distinct improvement in motor operation with fresh springs. I call Bing and order them. The nice man says they are $3.36 ea., and with with regular USPS charges the total is $11.32. I chuckled that these were by far the least expensive parts I've purchased to date for the bike.
3 weeks go by...I call Bing. Ummm I never got my springs? That's the mail for you, was the answer. I order them again, this time UPS shipping and they arrived . ![]() The price of the springs went up from 3 weeks ago and the shipping was more. The two springs have now run me $33.32. The old ones look compressed about 1/4" than the new. Sure hope they make the bike run better ![]() Update I put them in and the bike settled into a steady idle better than ever.... danedg screwed with this post 09-20-2011 at 02:41 PM |

WTB Monza blue front fender and right side battery cover
Is this the right place for this post? The title says it all.
I have a white one to trade if that helps! Thanks |

Fork lower interchange question
I'm on the lookout for a right fork slider for a duel disk conversion on the '76 R90/6 with 40mm ATE calipers. They're somewhere between rocking horse poo and hens teeth.
Can I use the fork slider from a R100RS? My reading on the Haynes suggests the stanchion diameters won't match. Is that correct, is there no other right-hand slider, other than a R90S right slider that will fit? Cheers. |

According to the MAX BMW Parts Fiche I'm looking for Part #31421233511 (RIGHT FORK SLIDER - 17MM) Edit: It looks like the 1978 R100RS sliders are a different part number, but R100/7 1976-1978 sliders are the same. Mallard screwed with this post 12-01-2011 at 02:52 AM |

Oh Bullbust, you ask too much. I've read about that sort of carry-on. I'm impressed by those who have the skills and not any sort of purist, but as far as this item goes, it's a matter of just tracking down the right part.

Fork Rubber Boot Substiture
Has anyone found a substitute to the BMW Rubber Boot used on the forks? My '91 GS uses the 15 rib boot. I'm starting to look at some of the local 4-wheel drive shops to see if they have any rubber boots they use on shocks that might be usable on the forks.
Any help is appreciated and I'll report back on what I find.
