American Inn and Suites is on this list somewhere. 3 years ago it was 400 pesos for a single it is now 800. The desk clerk pulled out a Globebusters brochure and asked me if I was with that group, I said sure, price was still 800pesos.

El Camino Motel across the street is 550pesos. Nice big room

Gas is currently 9.08 pesos for magna(regular) and 10.26 pesos for premium

A friend of mine lives in Los Barriles. I asked him his recommendation. This is his response:

Go online and get a house rental site (there is one run by Julie Marks who is a friend). This is the best way to do a family. There is also a new B & B north of town, but I don't remember the name and, my favorite hotel, Rancho Buena Vista. Great place for kids if the hotel is open. Budget is the big determinant. Most hotels are set up for fishermen not families. I think the house rental or condo rental is the best way to go. Charlie

Rancho Buena Vista was closed when I rode there last month with no date when/if it will reopen. DanTop

Costa Rica, Uvita.

Rancho Diandrew www.ranchodiandrew.com

About 2 miles north of Uvita there is a sign at a dirt road on the east side of the highway that says Rancho Diandrew, 4 km.

They have rooms, camping, jungle hiking, local swimming holes. Highly recommended place to stay.
