Soto La Marina

Hotel El Rey;
On the south end of town across from the Pemex on Hwy 180. $40 double. New (or just remodeled). This hotel has covered secure parking behind the hotel. The manager speaks some english and there is a good restuarant about a block to the south on the same side.

I would stay there again.

Hey, Everyone,

Thanks for all the updates I haven`t gotten onto the main page yet.

I`m currently stuck in Guatemala, my bike is in Guatemala City and Im in Antigua trying to get all my pics uploaded and my RR updated.

Ill try and get this thread updated as soon as I can and will also be adding some from my own personal mis-adventure.

Anyone have any reviews on Hotels in Guachochic between Parral and Creel? Plus any suggestions for Parral.

There were probably some on the first page of this thread at one time. Unfortunately, when I was down in Guatemala I was updating the info and when I tried to send it to Adv the connection crashed and I lost most of the data that was on the thread. I've got a hard copy of it but haven't had the time to re-enter all the info.

I'm in California right now and as soon as I get back home (flying) I'm heading out to Colorado and points north and west. Will be back home in mid-September and will attempt to get the thread updated then.

If my memory is still working when I get back from CA I'll try and see if there was anything on my hard copy and if so I'll let you know.

In Parral I stay at the Hotel Turista, tel 627.523.4070 & 4100, Plazuala Independencia #12, about P300. It's clean, quiet, has safe parking and is only 2 blocks from the central park.
I don't remember the name of the hotel in Guachochi but it's on the right just as you get into the town itself and is kind of a green color. It has a courtyard with safe parking. Dan

Economical Hotels

Just got Sojerd Bakker's book on "Economical Hotels" and it looks very good. Lot's of Hotels listed, all the towns I'm going through are covered. And there is much, much more are riding/traveling in Latin America.

Serach back further in this thread for contact info. Best $15.00 I've spent in a long time.

Thanks for all the updates. I think I found a fairly current hard copy of all the info I had entered before I lost it while I was trying to update from Central America. I got home in May and just got around to unpacking a couple of things and there it was!

I'll try and get it entered soon and get everything up to date.

Thanks to everybody who is helping by adding information.

And a mega thanks to Nata for maintaining this collection.

I'd originally thought that we could build a very large and helpful database quickly. It's gone much slower than I thought it would, but maybe it's like a fine wine...

To all riders: Please follow the format in the beginning post. Mucho easier that way...

Well, I think I've got this little thread up to date. I learned a valuable lesson about updating something like this on line. My advice is DON'T!!! Always open something like notepad up and, at the very least, save a copy of what you are working on.

Many thanks to everyone who is helping in this little project. Like you, LR, I thought we'd get a much large database by now but I guess it will always be a work in progress. I know lots of AdvRiders are south of the border right now and maybe they will add their input when they can.

Again, thanks to everyone for furnishing information. And, I'm going to second LR's advice to please follow the format at the beginning of the thread. It makes it a whole lot easier for me to get the info into the thread.
